It is time for new front rotors.. The rears should last you the same amount of miles on have on your ODO now..

I ended up getting the ProjectMu rotors, and I'm betting Chops for another set but something Japan Godzilla Powerrangers not sure, huge delay

If someone wants the Centrics, ... I found out rockauto owner is in Houston, maybe we can work out a group buy or something? Centric = StopTech for the most part I think

I heard new oem lexus is-f rotors are new part numbers? Can someone shed some light on that?

^^ OEM Front rotors have not changed to my knowledge.....

Front Brakes Info
  • Front Rotors OEM Part # 43512-0W060

Now I know for a fact the OEM Front pads have indeed changed this past summer and for 2012
  • OLD Front Pads Part # 04465-0W120

  • NEW Front Pads Part # 04465-0W170

Rear Brakes Info
  • Rear Rotors OEM Part # 42431-0W030

The rear pads changed sometime last year (2010) I think....
  • OLD Rear Pads Part # 04466-0W030

  • NEW Rear Pads Part # 04466-0W031

any ideas what the changes did?

If the stock OEM pads are eating up rotors, i'm betting they are semi metallic.

I found that pads with the following materials act as I say below.
When I talk about heat I'm talking about how much heat the pad can take on a track... high=longer before they fade...

Organic - High stopping power, Good cold stopping power, relatively quick ware, med heat, med/high dusting, easy on rotors
Ceramic - Low stopping power, Poor cold stopping power, long life, high heat, low dusting, med on rotors
Semi Metallic - High stopping power, Med cold sopping power, med/long life, high heat, high dusting, med on rotors
Metallic - High stopping power, horrendous cold stopping power, longish life, ultra high heat, not much dusting, will rip apart rotors and you'll need new ones with pad change.

Metallic's are usually only used in race cars....

Oh I should add

Organics - No sequel
Ceramic - usually no sequel
Semi Metallic - Slight sequel
Metallic - Sequels like a raped goat

Anyone running the StopTech Street Performance pads for fronts and rears? How would you rate them?

I went with P.mu earlier this year, to say the least, they are okay, but disappointed that one of the brake pads has cracked. It was mentionned to me by the SM when I was doing a service there, it's okay to drive, but sometimes there's some grinding noise when braking.

If it really does fail, I think I'm going to look elsewhere, like StopTech.

Default StopTech

just a shout out to people in the Bay Area, I live in San Francisco and after a jaw dropping quote for front/back rotors and pads for my 08' IS-F I did some research and settled on StopTech replacements. I drive aggressively but don't take my car to the track. I do however need stopping power on the hills in this city, and an occasional biker testing his life. So I checked out StopTech's website and located a place in Berkeley called Griffin Motorwerk's. The owner is a trip and they have been in business over 30 years. They replaced front/back rotors and pads plus changed the brake lines to metal ones (braided) all for $1422 tax/labor incl. great price versus over $3K quoted by the dealership. I have been on them for a few days and they feel great. I will report back after 100-miles once they are fully seated but for now I am a happy camper.

If the track is even a little hard on brakes, you won't do this with the same pads. Changing them is really easy, and I wouldn't risk my car to a sudden loss of braking at the track for being cheap.

changing pads for a few laps is a pain in the ***.. if you are going lapping for the day then yes i understand. But 1 or 2 20 min session shouldn't be too hard long as you let the car cool down in between .

I just ordered stop techs for the rears... last owner put project Mu on the fronts.. I find there is too much bite for DD and it's kinda annoying because it always locks the front tires quickly if you jab the breaks.

Not predictable IMO.

Next set will be stoptechs to try out.

Looks like the dealership I bought my F from only replaced the rear brake pads. The front brakes are starting to squeal like crazy now. Any personal recommendations for a front brake pad/rotor set up for daily driving that won't brake the bank? There's sooo much info in this thread, I don't even know what to go with. Raybesto rotors with Hawk HPS pads?

I don't know if it's the cheapest, but VIPAutosalon (one of this site's sponsers) carries carbotech brake pads.... I just ordered XP10's for front and 8's for rear.
