Default New IS-F Owner - Shifting Question

Hello everyone,

I've had my F for a couple of weeks now and just getting past the break-in period. I'm starting to test out the power more now. Is it just my imagination, or does the transmission shift faster in M mode compared to D mode? In D, is seems like there's a slight hesitation when shifting at WOT. But in M, shifts almost seem instant when upshifting using the paddle shifter.

Yes the car shifts faster in manual mode. In manual mode you are deciding when the car upshifts or downshifts. In normal or sport automatic settings you are allowing the car to decide when to shift.

The fastest way to accelerate or downshift to a lower gear to pass would be to control the shifts your self. If you just want to relax and maximum acceleration or gear selection is not the goal you put the car in D.

Big downside to me is that there's no way to quickly drop multiple gears - say from 8th to 5th. 8th to 7th is quick, then it's agony to get to 6th then 5th. Auto (sport or non-sport) & kick-down gets it done best.

From Auto (D), click left padle 2x and instantly drops from 8th to 5th and has very little of lag. Note, it will change to D if no gear changes in an extended period.

when you wanna downshift fast its better to do it in D+ Sports. after the gear is selected switch over to M. If you try to go from 8 to 2 in m-mode it will have at least about 7 second laggggg...

It's true with Sports mode. I can see a scenario going from 6th to 2nd, but why 8th to 2nd?
