Do you think it is feasible to paint the IS-F flat black or matte black as far as cost go? I imagine rock chips would be a problem to but it still looks awesome...

 

It'll cost just as much as any other quality paint job would, but maintenance is gonna be a *****. You can't wax it or quick detail it - you gotta use washes that don't have any compound/wax in them to keep it from shining. Rock chips won't be your problem - your nightmare is gonna be water spots from when it rains or you don't realize you parked next to a sprinkler and come back to dried water spots on the car. If done right it looks bad *** but for a daily driver it's hard to maintain.

 

Basically it will look awesome but sounds like the maintenance will be a big pain in the ***.....

 

I've seen platinum motorsports in LA do flat black paint jobs on lambos/bentleys/G-wagons left to right but dont know anything about the maintenance. I dont think it's actually that bad otherwise the whole flat black thing wouldn't be as popular. Just my .02.

 

Just wrap it in flat black. That way if you dont like it, get bored with it or it goes out of style you can unwrap it.

 

True could just wrap it and if I dont like it then just take it off...

 

Didnt you see the picture of the one they wrapped flat black??? I though the general consensus was negative.

 

Oh if I was going to due it I would definitely paint it but the mainteance issue is a concern

 

You want to paint a new car? That's a waste, no matter what color you want.....

 

Use vynil, they can wrap everything in flat black and if you ever get bored of it you can easily go back to the original paint which would have been protected all that time

 

maybe not the entire car flat black, but aerotect has a recently new wrap that provides the look of flat but gives nice contrast to the original paint. its called FrostBite. from what ive seen, it looks amazing!

 

i would not go with flatblack paint..
ive heared from professional that it costs more than regular paint due to their special clear coat (i didnt even know they had clear coat for matt). Maint is alot harder ive seen my friend putting like clear grease on it instead of wax or something...
you can probably wrap the whole car in matt paint lookin vynle or even aerotect frostbite would work nicely..
IMHO it def not worth to mess around your factory car when its new as F unless you are doing it for a car project.

 

i say just wrap the whole car carbon fiber.

 

vinyl is the only way to go. flat or matte paints are impossible to maintain and will KILL your resale value.

 

I think satin black would look the best...
