Exclamation

Sounds like moisture evaporating to me.. which is normal for an exhaust upon cold startup..

You will see LOTS more of white smoke in the winter months...

True, but at this time of year you should never see white smoke on start up.

Early morning cool temps can generate the "smoke".. Outside temps in the 50's & 60's easily..
(70's is pushing it)

To the OP.. Does it look like this ??

It's happened to me twice so far. Both times after a hard run, letting it sit over night. First start of the day (in the morning) I saw a white/blue tinted plume of smoke coming from both exhaust sides. I'm pretty sure it was burnt oil. It smelled and looked like it.

Stig made it happen too. Haha:

My 2002 ES 300 did that. Lexus gave me a new small block, for free!! It also did that during heavy acceleration.

Default Youtube video

Thanks Joe! I watched the video link on YouTube. And you're right, that's pretty much it. Although mine might not let off quite as much smoke, it's the same color and happens right after start just like the video. It quits almost immediately. What is the cause of this for the one in the video?

Condensation..

Water/steam is a by-product found in the exhaust vapors

In the video it was a cool morning here in SoCal...

Default Finally

I took my F in for the floor mat safety recall. While I was there, I had them check out this puff of smoke upon start-up. (After further investigation, it was definitely smoke and not vapors/condensation.) The dealership said that everything checked out just fine. They even compared it to another brand new F they had there at the dealership. Their explanation was that the F is souped up and just runs a little rich. Hence the brief puff of white/gray smoke upon a cold start. At least I have this on record should they have missed anything Thanks everyone for your input.

That is a total crock. Even though the ISF doesnt have the recall I think your car might be a candidate for it. New cars should not smoke on start up. I would call Lexus Customer service and ask them to schedule a rep to see your car.
