Default Looking for a new steering wheel...

Ok, 2 years in my F, and my biggest complain is the weak steering wheel. It's nothing more than a re-skinned IS-x50 wheel. If anyone has ever spent some time behind the wheel of any M or AMG, the steering wheel is a true "sports" wheel. Meaning thicker, premium material, etc. Considering that the steering is the only touch point, between driver and vehicle, I feel it is very important.

Does anyone know where I can find a replacement steering wheel for my F? If you got pix, please post too.

Cheers!

I'll admit I'm a bit disappointed with the feel of the steering wheel too. The M3 steering wheel is one of the best. One of the members on here (timeToy) got a spare ISX50 steering wheel and had it recovered. I'd love to pick up a spare and have the same thing done. Here's a link for reference alonhg with the name ofthe place he had it done.

Well if you have a spare grand-and-a-half...

The only problem with both of those is they are still the same thickness as the OEM steering wheel. I'm also not that crazy about silver carbon fiber. The amount that comes on the center console and on the doors is enough for me on the F.

I "handled" this problem already in my IS...

I had it re-wrapped in black alcantara + red perforated leather, and also had it made a bit thicker. MUCH better.

It costs $425 to have the steering wrapped like timeToy did. I'd assume it would be about the same to have what Javier had done to his and it looks to be the same company too.

JavyLSU: The Alcantra/red leather combo looks great!

What is the difference between the IS-F steering wheel and the regular 2IS one? Just the F logo at the bottom? I actually like the less "meaty" steering wheels so the F one is perfect for me.

No, it's not quite the same company - my wheel was done by TurinModel (same company that did the Project: IS-F interior), and it was unfortunately it a bit more expensive. I had them use two different types of material, and also had them pad the wheel a bit to make it thicker.

Thanks! If you unwrap the 2IS and F steering wheels, they are practically identical. The feel the same thickness, and have padding in all the same ares. The differences are all on the outside of the wheel.

These are bad azz and come in gold too and no pesky air bag to add unwanted weight.
