Default 5 liter in ls460 has 438hp..we have 416-doesnt seem fair

I was at the dealer getting my oil changed and was looking through the brochures...noticed the 460 with the 5.0 litre has 438hp...I am sure it is not the same engine as the isf, but I would think we should have at least 438hp if that car does...

You mean the LS600hL, and the 438hp is a COMBINED number between the gas and electric motors. The LS460 is a 4.6L with 380hp.

your talking about the LS600 Hybrid that has 438hp im assuming.

-thats the total out put of the 5.0V8 and the Electric hybrid motor.

I would assume the 5.0 V8 in the 600h puts out 370-390 hp by it self, with the additional 50-70hp from the electric motor

-the LS460 has 380hp 4.6 L V8 , with just the gas motor alone

Interesting to note that the IS-F 5L is taken from the LS600 but without the hybrid components, then performance tuned with the help from folks at Yamaha Motor. So we are indeed driving a top level Lexus V8 this side of SUV's...

I'm sure the LS doesn't have the tranny to back it up like the F.

Hehe I hope you do realize the ISF's transmission is the exact same 8 speed found in the regular LS460 right? The only difference with the F tranny is the ECM programming for quicker shifts, throttle blips and paddle shifting. The LS460 Sport now has this feature which was once exclusive to the ISF.

Is the torque converter lockup an ECU feature as well or are there additional parts involved?

Also the LS 600h L 5.0 is detuned so it doesn't make the full 416hp

I believe the 5.0L in the LS600h makes 398hp without help from the electric motors, saw that stat on a car review when it first came out....
