I had my wheels ('08) refinished as a "courtesy" due to what I suspect was bad clearcoat from the mfr (BBS). I am not sure how to find the links to the original thread I started or was a part of.

That's been happening forever....
Especially back in my IS300 days, it was the #1 problem with oiled filters.
Glad to hear your problem was an easy fix.
Go OEM or Go with a Dry filter instead.

MAF sensor filament more than likely had oil vapors attached to it, from the oiled filter.
That's been happening forever....
Especially back in my IS300 days, it was the #1 problem with oiled filters.
