So how were you running him exactly? Traction control off and VSC on? Or traction control on and VSC on?

I wasn't even aware it was possible to turn off VSC in the IS-Fs. I'm pretty sure you can't turn off VSC in IS350s (you can only turn traction control off).

I've had multiple runs with M3s (coupe and sedan), and never lost a single race. First of all turn VSC off through the long push. Also start your races higher than 4500 RPM, I'd say even higher than 5K. Good luck.

Not sure if I am going to believe it was the car (isf), that was the issue.

I have gone head up with the new m3 e92, from a standing still and rolling, and its not faster than ISF. You just have to be in the correct gear.

From a standing start, it would be over, as even I jumped on it multiple times (is350), against the same driver, who knew what he was doing. (bmw took me over after 2nd gear)

Up until 140 you should have lead the entire way... lol

JUST SAYING..........

I've ran about x3 e92 m3's (2 were DCT coupes, the other was a 6-speed cab). The m3's had either oem 18's or oem 19's. My IS-F is running 19" Advans.

Against the DCT coupes the race was almost identical, however against the heavy cab I beat him pretty solid by 2 car lengths (Weight and the manual was his downfall).

At first I could not see why you lost since it sounds you know your car however after seeing it with those heavy 20's ~ that's your problem...hahaha

Rolling weight has alot to do with the speed of the car, just look at the new Techart Panorama - they stuck to factory 19's for the same reason!

I've raced my IS-F against a R8 by accident once and I got the holeshot since the owner of the Audi didn't know about the IS-F and thought I had a riced out ISx50...haha - it was a very close race in terms but we only took it up to 90 due to traffic.

I take it the Audi R8 was the V8 version and not the V10...heh

I know dyno numbers dont mean much but i did pull out higher numbers than a chipped e92! hahaha

http://www.socalevo.net/index.php?op...&topic=78661.0

Ive also ran against a friends m3 with dct and most of the runs I was either ahead by 1/2 car to 1 car length..I noticed that the sweet spot to start at was around 5500rpm..

Next time you should start higher in the rpm's!

Yup. You should easily beat him from any 2nd-4th gear roll. If you run with traction control off you will spin if you being the 1st gear. Starting at a higher RPM wont do anything. Anything above 4200-4300RPM is fine for our cars. If you cant beat him at 4k Rpm, you wont beat him starting at 5000. Looking at your supra i would expect you to know the difference rotational wight can make. If you want to win, go back to stock wheels and hell see your rear F badge

I know for sure that the additional weight of the 20s make a difference for sure. What doesn't make sense to me are all the people that beat a DCT M3. Most dynos of M3s I see are around 350-360whp where as most ISFs I have seen stock are 330-350. Add to that we weigh more and shift at 100ms vs 8ms.

If we start in 2nd gear at 5000 rpm and stompt it you instantly are at red line and need to shift into 3rd losing a tenth of a second where as the M3s with 8200 red line has not shifted yet. I know the ISF 1st takes u to ~30mph 2nd 2nd to 60mph and 3rd to 90mph. Have not paid attention what 4th and 5th limits are in the ISF. But I assume with 8 gears we have to shift more often to get to 140-150mph than a 6speed tranny with a wider rpm band width. So if it takes us a tenth of a second to shift after 4 gear changes we have lost 0.4 seconds which at 120mph is 1-2 car lengths.

Having many friends that have M3/5/6s I know some even when they race do not activate the S6 tranny mode because they don't want to remove the traction control during a high speed run for protection. I have ran my supra on 16psi against my buddys M6 and although I handedly won everytime different settings in the M6 made a huge difference. Even selecting the p500 mode but setting suspension to comfort and leaving the tranny on S5 vs the S6 which requires TRAC being off made a 1-2 car length difference. Now in the M6 the Fastest M6 mode is 65ms vs the DCT 8ms. It makes we wonder for the guys that beat the DCT M3 if you the cars were setup right?

ISF is faster because of powerband. M3 has a ****ty torque curve and takes forever to make power.

You are correct when it comes to different settings. But my buddy has been to M school twice and knows Bmw like the back of his hand. Just take our advice and come up with your own conclusion. You wont get a money back guarantee lol, but i can assure you that stock to stock you should never lose a roll race to an M3.

The M3 DCT is faster than the F transmission? I thought the IS-F had one of the fastest transmissions out there .10ms. What is the official rating for the M3 DCT is it listed anywhere?
