Removing engine compartment cover clips

Removing engine compartment cover clips
I apologize in advance if this has been covered before but, I did a couple of searches and came up empty handed.
Can anyone provide guidance or advice as to how to remove the engine cover clips without significantly nicking them up or damaging/gouging them? Is there a special tool that can be used to pull the center pin out? Just using moderate press to try to pull the clips out of the hole does not work. Also, the manual is unclear as to how to remove these clips. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, push the middles down and carefully pry the outer edge up on both sides to remove. I use a slim knife blade on both sides so as not to mark.
Some you can push from below (after pushing the middles down).
Be careful not to drop them otherwise you'll have to remove the lower engine cover to retrieve.

I am not sure if I truly comprehend the directions being provided. I may need to post pics of my clips as they may be different. I have seen other Toyo/Lexus clips where There is a center pin that you push in which allows the bottom portion of the clip that spreads out come back in so you can lift the clip out of the hole. These clips don't have that center "pin". It is just a large circle that sits recessed in a larger circle.

For the IS-F.. or any other 2008+ Lexus IS...
All you do is push the center down with your finger and then pull the whole clip out.
Reset clip for Install..
