Car should make around 370-380whp. Matters on the dyno though.

No major difference at all Mike....

Our mufflers are not chambered, they go STRAIGHT through...

Edit:
Actually, I am going to correct my self and say that the sound will increase, along with an increase in exhaust drone..***

However, there will be NO additional performance gains...***

***If we were to run the PTS exhaust system with out mufflers.

Ok sure..

Sounds like you have spent a lot of time R&Ding exhausts for the IS lineup....

Keep in mind, Mike was wondering how the PTS system would sound or perform without mufflers...

Which I have accurately answered based on experience & knowledge.

I can't say that I've felt any noticeable gain. It may have but it's probably negligible.

However, one thing to note is it certainly saved alot of weight. The stock mufflers felt about 20 pounds each and the stock cats seemed around 5lbs. That means about 50lbs of weight savings approx... I'm going to weigh them when I get home tonight.

Also, to the person who said it's not pretty. I agree but you can't see it when standing up. When on a knee you can see the straight muffler pipe, which is why I'm going to paint it with a flat black paint. I'll post pics when complete.

Basically the same performance gains with the PTS exhaust system and removing the mufflers and secondary cat backs?

I was just saying that if you were to remove the secondary cats and mufflers you would pick up some power. I love you system and it is a sexy piece but I think by doing your exhaust this way along with redoing the compressed part of the y you would see equal power gains verses after market systems and save a lot of money at the same time. Have you guys messed with a 3inch setup? I wonder what that would net? i wonder if it would even fit under or cars?

Did not thank about the wait savings interesting, does anyone know how much the spare and jack weigh? Might cut close to a 100 pounds doing both of these mods? Weight is the enemy!!! Lol!!

I understand your response..
But I really don't think you saw that I was answering member "mikefate's" questions......

Now to answer your questions..

You might end up "saving a lot of money", but the flow would be mismatched in many places and not optimal to produce good gains.

Also, you end up cutting up the $2400 oem exhaust...
Which can be very useful down the road if you ever have to sell the car, trade it in or get a SMOG check done with a state referee present (like CA & NY) if you get caught with missing emissions equipment.

Now 3" piping would be very hard to pull off under the IS-F... Even, If you did get to squeeze it in there, it would bang around & rattle in the tighter areas..

Also, you would have too much back pressure and it would hurt more than help on a V8 N/A engine like ours.

2.5" piping was the best size for our design V8 engine..
Also, keep in mind our true dual 2.5" pipes are mandrel bent and they remain the same size from front to back..

Best Regards,

Joe Z
