Now to answer your questions..

You might end up "saving a lot of money", but the flow would be mismatched in many places and not optimal to produce good gains.

Also, you end up cutting up the $2400 oem exhaust...
Which can be very useful down the road if you ever have to sell the car, trade it in or get a SMOG check done with a state referee present (like CA & NY) if you get caught with missing emissions equipment.

Now 3" piping would be very hard to pull off under the IS-F... Even, If you did get to squeeze it in there, it would bang around & rattle in the tighter areas..

Also, you would have too much back pressure and it would hurt more than help on a V8 N/A engine like ours.

2.5" piping was the best size for our design V8 engine..
Also, keep in mind our true dual 2.5" pipes are mandrel bent and they remain the same size from front to back..

Best Regards,

Joe Z
good info thanks joe

Stock exhaust is expensive but putting the stock cats and mufflers back on would be just as easy as taking them off

Joe - Too much back pressure We both know it's all about flow and the velocity of that flow. 3" is too big for a NA engine of 5 liters, the flow would be too lazy with low velocity. As with you, I believe 2.5" is just about right.

Sounds sick. I have no secound cats either. Test pipes are win . Made my 350 sound exotic. Your car has more of a growl though. wish i had a V8

Right on Lou...

and with that exact statement the Backpressure will increase with larger diameter pipes....

Trust me on this one...

That sounds absolutely sick

Hell, I thought the stock IS-F sounded sick as it is, seeing as how I've got the V6 IS350, but this modification makes the IS-F sound noticeably more sinister.
