I would say a Gram Light or Wedssport is your best option then. Not Forged so you don’t get raped on the pricing and yet extremely light weight for the price.
I too will be opting for a different tire and wheel setup since I plan to go nitrous, and will likely just go down to 18’s. 18x9/9.5 is a very common and relatively cheap option from the above brands.
A 265 is likely more than adequate as well compared to a 285ish street tire on 19’s I’m running now.

I will probably go nitrous as well so I was thinking that the 245/40/18 M/T's that some people are running might not be enough. I like the idea of the extra sidewall on a 17 as far as not breaking **** is concerned lol
I wanted a 17 rear 18 front, but I have my heart set on TE37 SAGAs and the 17x9.5 et 58 was just too high of an offset I think. It’ll fit but look stupid.
i also want et streets... they drive fine on the road and do great at the track, but you have to run an inch bigger than stock diameter tire and our gearing already sucks.
i settled on getting a square set of 18s and running a 275/35/18 R comp road course tire. It won’t flex like a drag radial, but they don’t really make drag radials in the right size for 18s or 19s in the right diameter for our cars.

They make the ET Street S/S in a 275/40/17 which is a 26 inch tire like stock though.
i Don’t see it on their website... that’s a bummer though because Thats my preferred drag radial. It just doesn’t fit the wheels that I want. I’m different than most in that I’ll drive with drag radials the whole summer because I have another car for crappy weather. I want matching wheels. I’d hate to spend all that money on Volks and then only use 2 of them. Would a 58 offset look ridiculous?

Here is the link to the tires I'm referring to: ET Street S/S
As far as fitment on those Volks is concerned, the stock rear wheel is a 9 inch +55 so you would be basically sitting the same as the stock wheel to the outside and 9mm closer to the strut to the inside. This doesn't account for sidewall bulge of the 275 of course.
Has anybody verified a proper offset and model of a cheap 17 inch wheel that will fit in the rear with a 275 drag radial? I know the some volks will work in a 17x9.5 +40 but I'd prefer something budget if I'm not using them much.
you will be into the rear fender with a meaty drag radial unless you have fender mods.

my wheels are 13s, so they are 9.5 et 51... or a 7 mm outside rim offset loss. Boooo!
I’m really starting to consider the 275/40/17 for the rears now... I had no idea they came in that size. What size and offset can I run without rubbing in a mild drop? I won’t roll or modify fenders, so offset matters. Those tires run really wide as well I believe. Obviously I just need rear wheels, and the TE37s don’t come in the right offsets. Maybe I’ll look at some different rear wheels.

I actually want to know the exact same thing lol. I would assume a 17x9 +40'ish or 17x9.5 +45'ish would work. The main thing is finding one where the barrel clears the caliper.
I have a 19x9 et 40 in the rear with a 275 and it’ll tuck, but barely. The ET street will be a bit wider and a bit taller. I’ll prob get a 9.5 et 45 and pray it clears for drag racing. I cant find a higher offset 9.5 except the above mentioned TE37, which is too high.
You have to be very careful when choosing a 17 because they won't all fit. I don't think the 17 inch Weld will fit due to it being a welded two piece wheel. The face is physically smaller due to the stepped lip so I am almost certain it won't clear. I tried these Evo VIII 17's on a couple days ago and they work with about 3mm of clearance due to not having a crazy drop center like the Welds have.
