popping noise during slow turns
#16
Mine just experienced the same results this morning when I slowly pulled out of my driveway. The popping sound accompanied with a jolt to the steering wheel startled me but then I recalled reading this thread some time ago.

I have the same problem. People are saying that this is due to cold weather and the tires are slipping, etc. But I'm in california and it's been in the 70's here in Cali so it's not due to the cold weather. I think it's the brake pads clicking that is causing this noise. I'm going to try to put some more brake pad lube to see if it gets rid of th noise sometime soon. But I don't think it's a weather related problem...Darshana S...

Its a loss of traction against a perpendicular force on the tire. When the tires are cold this is easier to get (i.e. cold weather) and when your tires are worn out, especially the inside edges from alignment toe settings. Check you tires. I had the issue, got new tires, issue went away. I assume it will come back when my current set wear out. It comes as an expense of having an excellent turning radius.

I live in So. Cal. I get that popping noise mostly when I'm backing out from parking lot. I don't think it's weather or brake pad related. I get that noise even if I don't apply brakes. :-(
