Default popping noise during slow turns

during slow turns (parking spot or backing from the driveway) i am getting a popping noise and noticeable deflection of the steering wheel accompanied by a "chunk" sound.

seems to be some posts in other forums for upper swing arm ball joints.

what can i tell my dealer, who doesn't have much is-f experience, to look for?

I have the same thing!! I have Eibach springs so I'm a little afraid to go and tell the dealer and have them claim that it's due to the springs. Anyone else have this problem?

I get that all the time when it's cold outside. For me it's just the tires slipping because they are "summer" only.

I have it too. I think it's caused by the front wheels being not parallel when the steering angles are great. So one of the wheels have to slip/give.

Exactly, cold is the key word. I get this too when backing out of or into my driveway on a cold day. And I have always attributed it to tire slippage due to tire angle. Oh, and I have stock springs.

The dealer will tell you they all do this, and he'll be right. Mine is bone stock on OEM tires and does this routinely when it's cold.

That is good to know, mine does it as well and I was afraid that the ball joints were on their way.

It is what allows such a tight turning radius. I have it too. Took awhile to get used to.

Hi Guys,

I'm still getting a popping sound on the front drivers side during low speed turns. It's been relatively warm in Southern Cali (70's to 80's) so it's not due to cold weather. I went and got a alignment done and the castor was markedly off:

Castor:
Front Driver: 7.6
Front Passenger: 8.4

There is no marked pull to one side to the other. Any thoughts?...Darshana S...

Kinda "glad" that everyone (mostly everyones) is doing the same thing during the cold weather. I had just noticed mine doing the same thing during 30-45F weather. I now wonder why the cold weather affects it so much.
