In my opinion, the IS-F is in its first generation. 2008 was its first model year and has only received refreshes year after year. I know some of the refreshes are pretty big like the LSD and suspension updates, but it's still a first generation IS-F. Although it's in the IS line, it is indeed a separate model.

I spoke to some folks from lexus at NY Autoshow last night, not the paid spoke person and models they have there actual people from corp they said roll out for car will go like this GS line 1st next ES which they just showed at NY Autoshow then LS last IS line so 2014 release date for new ISF sounds about right maybe available in late 2013 who knows

for what it's worth .... there wont be a next gen isf for at least 3 years i spoke with someone i met that works at toyota r&d and he hinted that the IS model release wont be until 2014 and that a new is-f isnt even being developed yet and typically takes 2 years after the release of the next gen. He had some undercover pics of the new IS which will sport the spindle grill like the GS but I didnt get to look very hard (quick cell phone shot)

^ exactly i just got my 11 and when i ran into the guy at a meet out here and we spoke about the isf since he had one with him he said it would be a good 3+ years before a new gen IS F was out... kinda eased my mind since i figured they would do a new one sooner and my 11 would look out dated lol

Awesome info Joe Z, so If the new IS aint gonna be out till 2014 roughly, so it should be safe to say the IS-F should be around 2016 or so ? Now I dont feel so bad for placing an order on my 2012 IS-F, atleast it would be paid off in time to grab the next Gen. Thanks !
