A friend of mine is looking for used IS-F, are there any problem areas she should look out for? The car is a 08 and has 40k on the clock.

The fitment around my navi and above the center vents sucks, it has some bad gaps that Lexus wont do anything about... so much for the Pursuit of Perfection

My navi fitment is good. However I have a pretty sizable gab above the center air vents unfortunately. Also look very closely at the rear bumper as somehow I missed it when looking it over myself when getting mine but there are outward pin ****** right above the exhaust openings in the bumper meaning someone bumped the car hard enough to make the bumper push against the support bar. With the curve of the bumper its easy to miss if you don't get down low to look at it. I never see them ever while standing. Haven't questions the dealer about it since I only noticed it about a month ago and haven't been back in that area or had time to call them about it yet since it had a clean carfax and they said it wasn't in any accidents.

For an 08 with 40k on the odometer, maybe tires and brake pads. It might not be an issue in the immediate sense, but replacing them in the near future might be necessary. Other than that, I haven't seen any other problems with the car. I have heard some owners noticing condensation inside the headlights, but that's about it. Have your buddy test drive it and get a mechanic friend to look it over. Best of luck to him on the purchase!

As others have said, Brakes and tires. I have about 37k on the clock and the only real issue the car has had is brake pads, rotors and tires. All normal wear and tear items for the car. Oh I had one small odd issue arise as 36k, my water pump started to leak. But was caught before any damage occurred. The leaking was only visible from below the car. Other then that I complain of squeaks and rattles but its a very tight unibody car.

Tell your friend to inspect the wheels really well as there is a known issue of brake particles permanently sticking to the surface. A real PITA to try and clean if at all possible. Some members have had their wheels replaced/refinished at the dealer.
