I have 2 old Toyota Land Cruisers that give me ample opportunity play with a wrench.

Thanks!

The factory warranty is 5yrs 50K miles so you shouldn't have to worry too much about anything, right?

Here in Salt Lake there are not many IS F's around on the streets or for sale. There's a used car lot that has a branded title one here that I went and checked out last night. No interest in getting this one as it has been wrecked, though the price is nice. Took it out and ran it through the paces for about an hour. Great car, everything I'd expect from a Lexus, and then that secondary intake, when it opens the car just sound angry.

One thing I noticed at idle there's quite a bit of ticking coming from the engine bay. Sounds like it may be the injectors, but I didn't dig too deep as the plastic covers were in the way. Is this common to have a ticking sound at idle?

Mine definitely doesn't tick under the hood. Driving a car with a wrecked title is just too sketchy for my taste. You never know who it was that did the work, if they are Lexus certified, where they cut corners, etc.

You can pick up a pretty clean IS F from California and that's like a two day trip from SLC.

Perfectly normal.

Yours is weird if it doesn't tick. All the DI engines tick.

If I pop the hood I hear the DI ticking, but my point is that it's not something that I can hear in the cockpit; something that is out of place.

Yes, this is accurate. Most don't need the hood raised at all, just leave the window down. The DI injectors are really noisy.

I was in the same boat as you. I can tell you that my insurance was $10/month different between a 350 and an F. So negligible in that aspect.
