Quick ? on the DIY Intake Mod
I read the thread about this mod. There are two ways to do this, the first one is the rubber cap off on the cylinoid, and the other is to electronically disconnect it. I only see one connector on the cylinoid. I read that another member unplugged the wrong one causing check engine light and etc. Curious if there are two connectors or maybe somebody can post a picture of the correct plug to disconnect. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

If you do a search, you will find out that this mod wouldn't make your car faster.
You should keep the secondary intake anyway. The car sounds like a TIGER when it ROARS!

It sounds great... but Bottom end clearly suffers, it was painfully obvious at the drag strip.
To each his own though.

Thanks for the heads up, Joe Z sent me a message informing me to leave it alone. I was originally interested in this mod after reading the post with multiple dyno charts using aftermarket intakes, DIY Mod, and Stock. -Bryan B

My car has this intake modified by the previous owner.
Out of interest I was running a diagnostic on my vehicle tonight with the engine running and parked.
My intake was showing air temperature entering at 145 degrees. The vehicle was at operating temperature. This seems significantly high.
Essentially.. as you would suspect, the open intake is sucking up all of the air in the engine compartment when the vehicle is not in motion. With the vehicle in motion, I'm sure the air would cool down or exchange itself cooler and quicker.
I closed the intake manually and in less than two minutes the intake air temperature dropped by 25 degrees as it only sucked fresh air through the snorkel or primary fresh air intake.
While not a very scientific method of measurement. Hot/dirty air in the combustion chamber is going to lead to sluggish results.
I will be changing this back to normal operation.

Thanks for the info, kinda bummed we don't have the aftermarket support like the Bimmers and Mercs, so many different tuners to choose from.
