Default Normal gap on tint job?

hey fellas... i just got a tint job done this past tuesday... i know i need to wait for at least a week for the tint to "cure"... but was just wondering if this gap on the rear passenger quarter panel is normal for the tint job... he said it was the best he could do since he didn't want to interfere with the "seal" from the factory of the rubber seal to the window... just wanted to make sure if he didn't do a good job or if this was normal...

Oh yeah and what about the rear window where there are those little black dots that surround the border of the window... is the tint supposed to fill all those gaps between the black dots? hopefully, you know what i am talking about else i can post a pic...

FYI - i'm in texas so legal is 30% front... rear can be anything so i decided on 5% for the rear...

This is not acceptable. Take it back and have them redo this window. There should be little to no gap at all, period. It looks like someone did not want to take the time to do it right and just half azz'd it. It should not look like this regardless of what car it is.

he did a BS job. He got close to the others seals in your window, that didn't damage your car at all. I have tint on my car, and I can not see any part of the original glass.

Thats BS. I have a gap on my front window like 1/4 the size and when I am back in state they are redoing it. I would not accept that at all.

thanks guys for the quick response... so should i tell him to go ahead and fill it up even though he thinks he'll break the "seal" he was telling me he didn't want to do? he said that mercedes and bmw's usually have a black shade around the border of the glass to hide this imperfection...

That is not a clean tint job. There should be no gap, and the edges aren't cut properly.

A good shop would have done an outline from the outside and cut to the edges of the window. It looks like your guy just took the film and cut it right from the inside of the car.

The area with the "dots". They should have used a heat gun from outside to eliminate all moisture and seal it correctly filling in the little gaps. But like everyone else said, id go back. They did a lazy **** job.

That looks horrible, definitely have them redo it.

A good tint guy can do wonders, this one is just making excuses. I've had a perfect tint job using Huper Optik (hard to work with), edge to edge, over bumps and everything, with absolutely no visible imperfections. Then there are shops that avoid Huper because they can't do a good job with it, or worse, those that try and it comes out like a home project

Wow that's bad... I can only hope this was a Craigslist installer and not someone at an actual tint store...

This is a weird time to break my silence on posting.... that tint job is bull****. No other word for it. Also, why is window tint installed on the outside of the windows in America? That is just lazy to begin with. Proper tinting has the tint inside the glass. Windows get removed, Windows that can't be removed get computer cut to fit. End of story. I would not accept any other kind of install. I have all my vehicles tinted 3 hours away, I take the day off work, because it is worth it to have it done properly.
