Default Tires

Hello all,
I've been looking at tires for my '09 IS F and had narrowed it down to the Continental Extreme DW but then I read about the Michelin Pilot Super Sport. Now I'm leaning heavily towards them as they have a wear rating of 300 and are good in the wet and dry. Anyone have any experience with these? They came to market just in the last month and have been rated higher than the PS2 tire. Also the top speed for the tire is 186 mph.
I've been thinking of going with 245 in front and 275 in back as I feel that the stock size is too narrow for the weight of the IS F. Anyone see potential issues with these sizes on the stock wheels?

So have the PS2 come down in price? I remember paying a grip for those on my M5. What about rolling with 285 in the rear?

Actually the Max Load weight capacity at max pressure is exactly the same on the 255/35/19 and 275/30/19 - it's 1565 lbs. I'm running the Continental DW 245/35/19 front and 285/30/19 rear, the ODs between the two are the same. IMHO, the OD of the 275/30/19 is too small for the F. The 285 fits quite nicely on the stock wheel. I've had my Continentals since July of last year, and I'm still very impressed with them. Great handling, low noise, slightly better ride than the PS2s, and excellent in the wet. I luv 'em. The Michelin Pilot Super Sport is a new tire and, as I understand, not yet generally available. But, with Michelin's reputation it should be great tire at, what looks to be, a very expensive price.

Super Sport is the successor to the PS2. It is the stock wheel of the Ferrari 458 Italia. You can never go wrong with Ferrari's choice. AND it is even cheaper than the PS2!
The DW's are great but do you think Ferrari would have chosen it for the 458 Italia? Have fun deciding!!

These tires seem to be very popular. Any new updates on these?

I just never knew you could squeeze such a wide tire on the stock rim, cool.

The new Michelin Super Sports received a rave review from R&T. http://www.roadandtrack.com/special-...er-sport-tires

"expected price is close to the outgoing PS2."

****EDIT: quick look at TireRack shows the 225/40 @ $279, 245/35s @ $299, 255/35 @ $304, and the 285/30s @ $351. That's a lot cheaper than the PS2s. For comparison, the 285/30 PS2s are $459. --> Costco has them for $444.

I'm about to order a set of these in stock sizes so I'll let everyone know my thoughts after a few miles. People seem to love them and the price is right so I'll give them a shot.
