Can anyone comment on how much the dealer charges to check your trans fluid level out, assuming you're not under warranty?

Check it out or change it out?

I just had them check the level with some other work being done and no charge.

If you mean change it out, it depends if they are going to drain and replace a few quarts or flush with machine like B&G has.

Likely a bit of the latter. Check it out + If my fluid is indeed low I'd assume they'll have to replace a few. I still have my power train warranty, but just checking for worst case scenario.

The transmission check was free and at 105K miles still looked good after a few techs sampled color to chart. Then they did a flush and refill, and rear end they said they gave me a deal for $290, whether this was a deal not exactly sure but done but people I trust, and had RX during thanksgiving for a week so cant complain, great service!

Follow-up: Called a local dealer in SoCal, was quoted at $145 for trans. fluid check and top off (if slightly low). Will be more if significant fluid needs to be added. Like other's have quoted in the past it's an overnight process and you'll need to leave your car. Plan to get my levels checked very soon.

Depends on the dealer, I called a few in my region just to get a gauge and it ranged from $150 to $450 for a transmission fluid check/flush. However based on my conversation with each respective service adviser my faith in the dealerships' knowledge and the expected service quality went down. Most didn't know about the specific procedures required for our transmissions and their answers consisted of general BS I could tell they tell everyone. Half of them quoted me a turnaround time of 2 hours, which based on the procedures described by Lobux is way too short. Good thing I found one dealer that had a fairly knowledgeable adviser that actually explained all the details behind the procedure, including the specific procedures related to our cars. He also answered all the questions before I even got a chance to ask. Thank god this dealer is also one of the few that were charging under $250. The ones that didn't seem to have a clue were the ones that charged the most. I'll give an update in a few weeks when I get the fluid levels checked.

My recently purchased 08 ticked over to 33,000 miles on the first drive home. I'm hoping to keep it for a long time so it's reassuring to see so many trouble free high mileage cars on here.

I've got 51k on my 2008 ISF and a few recalls here with dashboard and panels and fuel sensor all under recall. The only thing I replaced was spark plugs, pcv valve, water pump, thermostat and gasket, transmission filter and fluid changed and coolant and brake fluid flushed along with differential fluid changed. Theses are maintenance things I did because I drive it hard. nothing failed on my what's so ever on her.

I noticed your airgbag light is on, there is a thread about installing a resistor to fix that light when you have a non airbag wheel.
