I've never understood the infatuation with burnt exhaust tips. IMHO it looks completely ricey and it only belongs on cars that are more about show than go.

You guys are overlooking the fact that you do not need to use the burnt tips.

If you charge far too much for the product, you wont make many sales will you? If you were to price accordingly where mark up is healthy and creating an attractive price, you will keep unit sales up and recover design costs quicker then you would by selling a few units at a ridiculous expensive price.

I didnt miss the point - In a few replies it was mentioned the price being related to the price of our car. I was simply saying thats a ridiculous business model for any manufacturer to have as sales would be much better if they stuck to the same cost + mark up intention.

Guys, this is the right set up & price for those who want to endulge in a FULL Titanium Dual Exhaust Setup...
MSRP was shown to be listed at $3,995

There is another system that was just (recently) released by another well know Japanese company.
In comparison, it's a FULL Stainless Steel System with an Msrp of $3,970.
Plus, the piping still keeps a 2 into 1 into 2 set up..

Titanium is NOT cheap these days.. Neither is the process to weld it together.
And for that matter neither is real 304 Stainless Steel..
The cost of these raw materials have ALL been increasing over the years..

Greddy was first to release/show their prototype design @ SEMA 2008 with the Dual Quad Titanium Tips..

I am sure there is a very good reason now, why they recently refined & finally released the system in FULL Titanium.

P.S. - My post is just my opinion on the topic at hand...

Cost of Titanium material & construction methods to build, make this a pretty good deal for what it is...

Those who want a Full Titanium Exhaust System will now have that option for their IS-F.

We already have a good basis for what the power output will be from similiar designs... Made in Titanium will not increase hp out put dramatically.

I'm glad they are finally realeasing it..

Joe,

How hard would it be to weld hi flow cats onto the greddy Ti system?

Let me give you an example, we do not have the proper environment for welding Titanium in house..

Neither will most basic speed shops or muffler shops..

Also, I think you would need a set of Titanium CATs

Their is a very expensive & detailed process for welding Ti correctly.

Joe Z

P.S. - I Googled the below...

SOME WELD FACTS FOR TITANIUM:

[] Titanium low weight, high strength and good corrosion resistance.

[] Titanium has low thermal conductivity, low density and low thermal expansion.

[] Titanium alloys match or exceed the tensile strength of structural steels.

[] Titanium alloys stronger than steel yet approx. 40% lighter.

[] Titanium will work at temperatures up to 600C.

[] Titanium alloys usually have a lower modulus of elasticity (stiffness) than steel, but much higher than aluminum or magnesium.

[] In comparison to aluminum and steel alloys, titanium alloys have a 30% or greater strength to weight ratio.

[] Most titanium alloys are softer than steel.

[] Titanium has poor wear properties.

[] Titanium tensile strength increases as the temperature decreases.

[] Titanium has low impact and creep strengths.

[] Titanium is reactive metal that forms a thin layer of titanium dioxide on it's surface. The oxide provides protection from many corrosives materials.

[] Titanium is bio-compatible in that it does not react with the human body.

[] Titanium will burn in pure nitrogen.

Contamination during the high temperate period can raise the transition temperature so that the material is brittle at room temperatures. If contamination occurs so that transition temperature is raised sufficiently, it will make the welding worthless. Gas contamination can occur at temperatures below the melting point of the metal. These temperatures range from 700°F (371°C) up to 1000°F (538°C).

At room temperature, titanium has an impervious oxide coating that resists further reaction with air. The oxide coating melts at temperatures considerably higher than the melting point of the base metal and creates problems. The oxidized coating may enter molten weld metal and create discontinuities which greatly reduce the strength and ductility of the weld.

Well I guess I'm going to stick with steel so I can get cats welded in.

Thanks for the info.

Joe,

Never met you (that I know of), but as an approved and very successful vendor on this site, I am always impressed with your objective and level-headed posts regarding products that compete with yours. It's an admirable quality and highly unusual in the cut throat internet sales environment in which you operate. Your posts and your products speak volumes about you as a person. Wish there were more like you...

Hate to bring this thread back but I gotta know. How many of you big ballers pre-ordered this bad boy? I really wish I could because I love the looks of this exhaust but couldn't bring myself to pay that much for an exhaust since I try to ball on a budget haha.

I think it's a reasonable price...a ti exhaust for a gtr or evo x is the same price or upwards $5-6ooo
