Lots of haters in the comments section. It's a funny thing, most car people online bash the F and always compare it on paper with the M3 and C63... and we know very well that specs comparisons don't mean squat, especially with cars this evenly matched.
On the other hand, everyone who's seen the car in person has praised it. This includes M3 owners, Porsche lovers and people who were prejudiced towards the car before they saw it, took a ride in it or drove it. Maybe I've been lucky meeting only the right people.
Go figure

The IS-F doesn't look impressive on paper, but once you drive it, it's a whole different story. When I went to test drive it, I wasn't expecting to love it, but as soon as I saw it, I loved the way it looked and after driving it, I was sold.
I think it's a very underrated car.

Actually I test drove M3 ,C63, S5, Camaro SS, Challenger SRT, Shelby and ISF before finalizing on the ISF.
The reasons I moved away from teh german guys is because of the reliability after 30K miles. My 3 buddies have M3's and C63 and they always complain about the electronics failing. The normal cost to get it checked is $600. Then the repair cost. Plus all these are really rich people so if hey complain about money then there must be a problem .
I loved the Shelby but as the back seat is crap I did not choose it. My kid loved the ISF ride.
Plus the base price on the German cars is cheap but a comparable car with ISF goes to 70K. I know Toyota had it's share of issues but I am sure they will recover. As long as the safety nets are applied in the new cars they should be fine.
I even talked with few BMW mechanics and they told me that the cars are great from drive train side but the electronics section is crappy. I need to have deep pockets to maintain a German car. I preferred ISF over these cars. Plus how many times we go to the track or drag strip.
my 2 cents

Interesting that the 0-60 and quarter mile times are like factory specs compared to the previously superfast 2008 times (4.2 or 4.3). I didn't know the M3 was a sub 4 0-60 car either.
I guess you have to take car and driver articles with a grain of salt.
Is there any way we can mod our suspensions to mimic the 2011 performance improvements?

M3 has consistent sub 4 second 0-60, reeeaaaalllllllly?
I'm still lost how EVERY magazine states the M3 weighs 200 pounds less than the ISF. The M3 sedan is 55 pounds less and the coupe is 75 pounds less.
M3 is an awesome car, but reliability is why I would be hesitant to buy one.

I love the haters under this article, 99% of which have never even driven or seen an F in their lives.
Who here (other than me) registered on www.caranddriver.com just to put these ignorant people in their place! Haha

"For 2011, Lexus addressed these concerns in a big way, changing or retuning every major suspension component.
There are softer front springs, stiffer rear springs, larger-diameter anti-roll bars front and rear, stiffer bushings on both the rear subframe and rear anti-roll bar, and a new steering knuckle and front control arms for reduced unsprung mass. Oh, and the rear camber is tweaked as well."
You could swap the springs out and increase the roll bar diameters. Add the stiffer bushings on the rear roll bar while you're at it. That should get you closer to the 2011 set up without a major expense.
