I'm pretty set on the Michelin Pilot Super Sports, but I'm debating sizing for a stock set-up.

My main concerns are performance, comfort, and noise for passive daily driving (never tracked).

My main concern with going with stock sizing is the few who've posted reviews of the PSS who went stock sizing disliked the tire, while the ones who love the tire went larger.

Should I go 225/40/19 & 255/35/19?

Or should I go 245/35/19 & 275/30/19?

What are the downsides for upsizing?

I've read the speedometer will be 2% faster, but what does this really translate to?

How would this effect the odometer over say 10000 miles?

Effects on steering or handling?
I went with Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Positions in the 245/35/19 and 285/30/19 size. I went with the PP because the PSS is not available in the 285/30/19 size and the reviews have been good. IMHO, 275/30/19 in back is too small, again that's just my opinion. But, to say I am happy would be an understatement. Again, IMHO, there is no downside here. Handling precision, traction, and braking are much improved over the stock size PS2 and my previous plus sized Continental DW.

Car is at the dealer now getting the Super Sports installed and an alignment. Thought I had more life left in my PS2's, but as I was installing my Carbotech 10 pads for this weekend at summit point I saw my inner fronts were wore down real good. With all the positive reviews I'm tying these out next. They are even lighter than the PS2's.

have you felt daily driving acceleration or hard acceleration "feeling" slower or a bit more sluggish due to width and weight of the tire?

i want better traction at WOT but not at the cost of the car being sluggish and worse throttle response. i drive like a grandma more than driving hard.

I have 295 and I don't feel sluggish, if anything it hooks like no other. I was racing my buddy who has drag slicks and ran a 11.5 at the track in an s10 and I was killing him every time off the line. I continued to stay ahead by a car and a half too. I was spraying, obviously.

thats good to hear. my other car, 285/35 makes a HUGE difference in unsprung weight. like, it's not even worth the sluggish feel . steering also became heavy with 255/35 in the front. i know the ISF has the torque but i always wondered why the ISF comes with with such narrow tires for the power it's putting out compared to some competition companies.

I have often wondered the same thing, 255 with 416 uhh clearly shows it's Lexus's first performance car lol. I have 235 in the front. Oh and I'm an running 19's

Fuel efficiency, demographics. Etc. For me, 255s are plenty meaty and I like the 225 feels up front... 99% of IS-F drivers probably never push 100% even with the stock tires. My 470 hp 470 torque Dodge Charger Superbee only has 245s!!! And it roasts tires all day long - but that's the point no?

In a word - NO! Even though the S-04 is heaver than the PSS, I don't feel it in seat of the pants acceleration. It hooks up much better and my throttle with the wider tires is extremely sharp and, in fact, convinced a friend, with stock tires, to get PPE headers. My dynos show no loss of power either.

I have the PSS in stock sizes. Now that I have 25000 on the rears (prolly 50% worn), they don't have the traction they used to. The OEM bridgestones would stick a lot better at 50% worn.

So, new problem. Is anyone else having issues with defects? I have a sidewall bulge in the rear with no obvious cause. I'm stuck in a bad spot because Discount Tire is out of stock in Georgia and Michelin is showing backorder status. DT is giving me credit for the unused portion of the tire (about 14.5k miles on them, 6/32 tread left) so I pretty much want to stick with them. Alternatives would be a 265/35, but the car understeers enough with the OEM setup. I'm not keen on adding more rubber to the back with the OEM size on the front, and 8/32 left with dead even wear in the front (finally got the toe right for my driving on the last alignment).

Wish they made a 285 PSS...I'd put the 255s on the front and 285s in back...

I've been running my PSS on the rears (275) for about 5k miles and no issues. I still have the stock PS2 on the front, but getting new PSS 245's in on Thursday. I haven't tracked the car, so I couldn't really notice any added understeer with the setup.

I ordered 245/35/19 and 255/35/19 PSS to put on my 08 on the OEM Wheels. (which are being put on right now)

The Lexus parts department had to order the fronts from Tire Rack and the Rears from the Lexus Tire Purchasing program.

I am trying to neutral the car out as well. I felt that 255 might have been pushing it on the front rim.

Yeah, looking at the numbers and the '08 rim sizes, it looks like 275 and 245 are the practical limits. Sure would be nice to have the wider '12 rims...oh well...

It's really annoying that DT can't solve this. Tire Rack has all four in stock and can ship them to me by tomorrow or Thursday at the latest because they're in the Georgia warehouse. Then getting them installed costs a premium because the shop isn't making any money on the tires...suck...

^^^^Hay Lance, I know you like the Michelin, and the reviews bear you out, but don't discount the Bridgestone S-04. They have them in the sizes you mentioned (245/285), and you know I have them and have been very happy with them. DT treated me very well when I complained about my Continentals, they in essence gave me full credit for them even though I had put close to 9K miles on them. They certainly are my tire dealer of choice

NTB has one tire and they can warranty it for me. I'll run this set until they're done, then go wider. Thanks for all the help!
