Exclamation Tire has a rip in it?!

So I went to clean the brake dust off my tires this weekend...first I took it off with a soft cloth then polished it off using Armor All Multi-purpose Auto Cleaner...worked pretty decently.

I noticed my front right tire has a slight tear... almost like a very small layer of the tire has a rip. It is a slight tear, but hasn't affected the tire pressure.

Towards the top left of the tire you can see it:

Here's a closeup:

Is this anything to be concerned about? My tire pressure is unaffected.

same thing happened to me on my is350 except the rip was vertical going towards the tread. nothing happened for a couple of weeks then one day I came to a flat tire. I would get it replaced ASAP if I were you; you don't want your tire going out while your driving

Can I get this repaired this somehow? Because replacing the tire itself would not even out the tire wear for all 4 tires...

Ouch!! Maybe it happened when you curbed your wheels. I would also replace asap.

I wouldn't risk trying to repair this. Change the tire, IMO.

Looks like the sidewall was pinched when you curbed your wheel. I could have just cosmetically damaged the rubber and not damaged the structural sidewall. If it starts to bulge out or bubble, get it replaced quick. Depending on the mileage of the tires you will probably have to replace 2 (Left and Right).

It is not possible to repair damaged sidewalls, only punctures to the tread.

THanks for all the input. Is it recommended to replace all 4 tires, or is it OK to replace in sets of 2... for ex. 2 fronts at one time, and 2 backs at another time.

You can do just 2 but the decision to do all 4 has to do with the total mileage on the other tires.

You can do just two: either both front or both rear because the sizes front to rear are staggered.

you should have both tires on the same axle replaced. it is completely unnecessary to replace all 4 at the same time. side wall is usually the weakest and subjected to the most stress during driving. it may be cometic damage, but none of us can tell you how deep the damage is based on that picture alone. when a side wall fails, it can be catastrophic and without warning. i would have tires replaced ASAP.

Later tonight I will try to post pics of how deep the damage is, it's a very small cut. The tires have a good amount of tread left. I believe they have 16k on them so far.

I don't know if it's because of the angle of the picture... but your rim looks slightly bent. Did you happen to hit a pothole very hard? The gash on the sidewall/rim look like damage from the edge of a pothole, not curb rash.

I would keep a eye on it - at least check it every time you fill the tank.
The car goes through tires fast enough, replace it when the inner edge wears out.

Potholes could very well be the culprit, these damn NY roads are still screwed up from this past harsh winter...I'll keep an eye on it.

Here's an updated pic:

I would replace the 2 fronts and keep a good one as a spare.
