Just for your entertainment or information I tried to get a custom Veterans license plate. My girlfriend suggested ISFU08 so I went with it. The DMV took my money with in a week from mailing my check. Three months later (today) I got a letter stating that they are sorry they can't do my plate because it maybe offensive. Oh well it was a shot. Now I have to wait 3 months to get my money back but maybe more due to the fact the state is broke and won't want to give it back. Lol

i also tried to look into custom plate, is it a one time fee or do you have to pay monthly for a custom plate? Cause i think i read somewhere its a monthly fee so i trashed the idea of getting one.

In New York, you pay $18 to have the plate made and an additional $25 with each two year registration renewal. NYDMV has a page that you can type in the plate that you want, they tell you if it's available and you can buy it if it is.

Every state is different.

Tell me about it ...I can't believe how horrible our roads have gotten recently! Frickin sucks in any car but especially on our rough suspension.

For the veteran plate its a yearly fee. I don't know about the others though

Tell me about it I live in the country and the only way to get around is on highways and there all beat up. My gf has a brand-new is350 f sport and it looks like someone shot gunned the front already. Claim is over 5000 so cal trans has no say so in denying it. It goes to small claims court.

There's a 1 time fee to get the plate made, from $50-$100. Then you pay yearly to retain the plate, from $50-$78.

I recently got tired of my plate since i've had it since 06 so decided to get a new one saying SFG*FTW. I too payed the $50 to get it made then they declined it after 2 months =( but i did get a refund back to my CC within a week of receiving the letter.

Last week i put in another request for SFGIAN7 and hopefully this one is approved.
