Hello All,
I've driven short distances on my TMPS-less rear wheels/drag radials with no noticeable issues, but was wondering if there would be any problems to driving much further like this. I would be traveling about 240 miles round trip. I realize that I'll likely get TPMS warnings of some sort, I just want to make sure that it doesn't adversely effect the car's performance or trigger a permanent code of some sort.
FYI- I realize that the ideal situation would be to avoid any issues altogether and get TPMS sensors installed and have them programmed. The only problem is that my local Toyota and Lexus dealers acted like I had three heads when I requested this service, and quoted me a ridiculous price for the labor- so I'd rather just avoid that altogether if possible.
Thank you for the help!

Have it done at any decent tire shop. They all have the stuff and won't charge an arm and a leg for it.

No need to support the dealer's attitude at all.

It won't hurt anything. Lots of guys ran without TPMS in the early days with aftermarket wheels and the only issue is the annoying warning constantly popping up. Same thing happens when you run the doughnut spare - low TPMS obliterates everything on the multi-screen, but it doesn't hurt anything or set any long term codes.

I ran 20" Work VS-XX on my old 07 GS350 without the TPMS sensors for a few months. The TPMS warning light comes on after about 50-100 miles of driving. The red exclamation mark gets annoying after a while but will turn off granted you keep your stock wheels/tires (full of air) nearby in the garage. You can have it reset with a techstream at the dealer but it will just come back on once it figures out the TMPS is nowhere to be found. You won't have a problem. Just make sure to check your air pressures regularly.

Many people do not have TPMS tire sensors on their winter tires during the three-four months of winter. I haven't seen complaints about "permanent" issues related to not having the TPMS sensors.
Full disclosure: I have 2004 RX so the low tire pressure warning system sensors are not on the tires.
