Agreed that racing could do that. It looks like the top one is more bronzy than the bottom. Probably doe to the heat convection?

Oxidation from heat. Doesn't matter how the heat gets there - convection, conduction, or radiation won't make a difference.

Same happens to the "Silver" Lexus logos on the Brembo Calipers.. They turn Gold after a few race days.

By the way Joe... I forgot to tell you the other tip that failed, matched in about two weeks once the juice hit No need to have the other one warrantied. I think i am going to have someone super tack weld each (4) tips so I never have to deal with the problem again.
