New to ISF and Club Lexus
First off, hey! Great to become part of the membership here! I just bought my 2011 Lexus ISF yesterday after dreaming of having one for the past three years. I absolutely love it, just can't wait to be able to use it fully. I have numerous questions..
1) My salesperson said there is no break in period of the new ISF's anymore. Is this true?
2) Is it possible to do your own oil changes and tire rotations to avoid the $250 service cost and know it was done right?
3) How do you make the door locks lock when you put it into gear and unlock when you put it into park?
4) Are there any major defects I need to know of so I can keep on eye on them?
Again, thank you.

2) I've had the quick lube at Toyota drop my oil and change the filter and I bring my own oil. You also cannot rotate the tires on an ISF. Not unless you want the rims facing the wrong way.
3) Dealer must modify this for you, however that is the way mine came so I'm not sure why yours doesn't.
4) There is some stuff about a leaky water pump somewhere on this site, but other then that....nothing major that I have experienced or know of.

First of all, Congratulations on the new car, this car is a blast!
Re: #3, as rtr01 said, the dealer will need to change this for you. This is one of the many "Lexus Personalized options" that the dealer should set free of charge the first time. My dealer gave me a brochure to go down and check which options I preferred when I bought the car. Inquire with your dealer or check lexus.com, I think there's a list someone on the site.
Best of luck with the new car, and Welcome to CL!

1. I Broke mine in for the first 1K miles. I didn't keep steady speeds and I did short bursts to 80. After 1K miles, breakin was done:thumb up:
2. I change my own oil, do a search and you'll learn how. Also if you use the oil filter for the Toyota Tnndra, it's much cheaper than the one for the F, and it's the same size. There's a thread for that too, with PN information. If you can't find it, let me know and I'll hunt it down for you.
2A. The directional spokes were only on the '08 and '09 and all Canadian cars. I see you're in Nevada, so you have the later non-directional wheels. However the front and rear wheels are different widths and have different size tires. Also the tires have an Asymmetric pattern with an inside and an outside. You could rotate the tires from side to side, but that's it. I do not rotate mine.
3. The dealer should have given you a copy of the PDF I have attached. It is the Lexus personalized settings (LPS). You need to fill that out and give it to the dealer at 1K miles when you get you first free service and checks done. They'll set your personalized settings for you.
4. There are no defects that I know of. However, watch the front brake linings, some folks have had them wear out quickly. Not me, however.
Now, as I said above, if you have more questions there are many answers in the various threads posted here, and the search function works. There are also a couple of good FAQs.
