I read that BMW 2 series will replace 1 series by 2013.

And stage2 335i will keep up with stock M3.

I agree skip 135i and get 1M.

Just read modded 335 threads here and the answers are pretty much the same.

I would stick with your bolt-on IS-F. Luxury, comfort, and performance!

...Although I would go with the 1M over the 135.

Has the 1M got the same engine as the 135i?
Nope, the engine’s different too – but not unique to M. Outgoes the newer, single blower 3.0-litre straight six, and in its place is the older, twin-turbo 3.0-litre straight six from the Z4 sDrive 35iS. And it means the 1-series M Coupe is a different sort of M car, one that has low-down, almost-any-gear/any-rev gruns, and one that doesn’t need to be extended to an 8000rpm-plus redline to get the very best from it.

as taken from bmwblog. So to answer your question, no its not just a tune

I concur!!! Surprisingly the 135i is pretty quick. I had one messing with me on the freeway last week, we were rolling at 60 mph and it still kept up to about 140 mph. I still had him by 6-7 car lengths.

Well I just finished driving an 08 6speed and yes I loved the feeling...but its no IS-F..... I also don't think I'm ready to drive a 6speed in traffic just yet because I drive a lot. I'm going to look at an 09 black everything tomorrow that's auto, but I don't believe that's going to sell me. I think we can all agree that the M1 will have to be the only thing as of now I could potentially trade for. I need to be patient to wait a couple more months to actually put numbers down and hit the track once its cooler. I hit the NX today because its been a long time since I used it and I realised just how fast this thing is lol. It still feels faster than the M335i and the 135i I drove tonight even off the bottle. Bottom line we own jaw dropping cars and the 135i does not drop anything including panties lol, but it was fun and pulled like a turbo car should.

Never get a BMW over a Lexus. Your car will be in the shop and you'll have a rental most of the time.

Not necessarily true. It needs a 135i with bolts ons and chip to run 11s.

IS-F with all bolts on runs 11 seconds.

Might as well be buying a 3-series... That's what they give you as a loaner (most of the time)

Hm.. Once you're talking about mod vs. stock, you can't compare. You can always mod something so it's faster than something else. With that said, yes, the turbo can be easily chipped to increase boost, just like the 335i. It's cheap horsepower.

I'm not sure why you would trade an ISF for a 135 though. That's a huge downgrade and they're sooo far from being in the same class, regardless of how many hp you end up putting out. I suppose if you want a smaller car and a coupe, then it's something to consider.

^^ what he said. Let me rephrase myself, a 135i with a JB4 (higher map tune) w/ boltons will "probably" walk on a F w/ boltons due to the weight and torque. (No thread jack intended) dano9258 thats not necessarily true, my X5 has only been in the shop once, my Lexus has only been in the shop once as well.

you bought the ISF for the V8 am i right? otherwise go mod an is350. Secondly, you bought the ISF over the M3 for your own personal reasons, just like me. Why would you downgrade to anything less than the ISF?

If you are going to the other side don't get anything less than an M.

the 135i is going to be like the 350/370Z everybody will have them and they will think they have the coolest and fastest car ever...

Why not wait and get on of the ft-86's (whatever they will be called). Thats want i wanna get. I planned to get a used one in a few years in addition to my F. It will be my toy car. Toyota has built this car with modders in mind. They are making it mod ready with stronger parts to handle the intended hp increases. And its damn near 20k cheaper than the bmw, plus you get toyota reliability!
