Nick, I am glad your F is now Normal (without tractor noise)...How many miles were actually on your car when the issue started?

i had noticed the same sound on my 2011 IS-F however, sound is not as consistent as my 2008.

Thanks Salil. By the way, not sure if any of you had noticed this before as well. When I first bought the car, normal operating oil temp was 3 bars even using manual/sport mode. It never really went to 4 bars unless it was very hot out and I was driving on the aggressive side. I did notice that over the past year, my readout showed 4 bars for oil temp for semi aggressive driving which I found odd. This would occur on a 70 degree day. Just wanted to also add that to the equation to see if this is an indication that there's an issue with the engine. Hope the information that I provide helps troubleshoot future issues for other owners. It was a painful process to be without my car for months.

Worn valve guides? That's grim for the rest of us. It shouldn't happen until at least 150k.

I'd REALLY like to know what the "updated oil scavenge" is. There's no indication of a change from what I've seen in the part listings. I don't like the sound of this for the rest of us.

Very glad they found the root cause and got it fixed for you! Essentially a brand new engine...

So far so good with the car. I can't tell you how good it feels driving the ISF again after 2+ months. I'll keep all of you posted on how things go.

Here's the first picture I've taken of the car since I got it back.

I'm glad they got the bottom of this for you. Now if I can only get my dealer on board to fix my car...
New short block assembly? Wow.

I'm using a Canon 7D. Shot with a 70-300 mm canon lens with Image Stabilization. No tripod used.

Just started hearing this with my 08 at 43k miles. I'm printing off all your guyz's hard work to hopefully convince the dealer here in Wichita to do the fix. I know somebody mentioned a good dealer in KS that all our Cali brothers were using, any info on where in KS? I'm just hoping they'll give me the new GS F sport for my loaner car :-)

Seems like the severity depends on when it came off the line, mines 000656 so anything below 1000 seems to have the issue. Mines completely stock as of right now (helps with warranty issues) but I have $3k worth of mods to put on it when its back :-). Even with this issue I wouldn't trade this car for anything else in the w

If I were you, I wouldn't let this discourage you from looking for an F... these are only a few documented cases. The probability of having bigger problems with German cars is way higher, as past owners have told me first-hand. For the most part Lexus builds strong reliable cars, but there will always be black sheep in the bunch, for every manufacturer.

*Update*

Lexus in Wichita agrees that I have a knocking issue but because they don't have another IS-F to compare it to, they are not touching it. Made some calls around to other dealers within a few hours asking their service reps if I could send them a video of my problem and they could assess the issue after viewing it. Superior Lexus in KC got back to me and said that they would do anything it takes to get it fixed. So... saturday morning I am hauling my F up to KC to leave it up there for who knows,.. 3 Months? I have a pile of Mods i'm waiting to put on until the major warranty service is done. Wish me luck!

Here's my most recent pic before she leaves.
