I like my car but I didn't buy it for my ego, to impress anyone or because I think I'm better than anyone else. I think some of this stuff is pretty funny. It's as if an IS F is compensation for something else
LOL, our selection of a car for reasons other than mere transportation is indeed an indication of our ego at work. Tell me you don't get pleasure from someone commenting how nice your car is or giving you two thumbs up and I will agree that your ego isn't involved.

Couldn't care less what people think about the looks. I bought it because it's got four doors and will survive track abuse. The wife picked the color because I don't care. It's also why I don't bother with cosmetic mods like lighting or unnecessary lowering, big lip wheels, "stance", or anything that doesn't improve how the car accelerates, stops, or corners. I'm spending my money on modding the driver more than the car.

I hear what you're saying but, I enjoy cars so my choice of transportation reflects that. I'm just as happy driving my 84 Mazda RX7 GSL SE as I am in the IS F or any other car I own.
I do get pleasure from the comments but that's not my reason for doing it. All of the cars I've owned/own and the modifications I made were done for me. It's a bonus if someone else appreciates it as much as I do.
The distinction I am making is when you purchase things based on what you think will make others see you as "better" or "cooler" versus what you like or the merits of a product. If you're (not you specifically) caught up in people mistaking you car for an F Sport and the thought of that happening gets your panties in a bunch then IMO it's about your ego.
As a no IS-F owner I can definitely see where both sides are coming from, and I don't have any F-Sport badges on my car... Yet. But I'm definitely not taking off the 250, and the only reason is because of all the f-sport parts I plan on putting on my car. I wish I had an is-f (hence why I stalk this section lol) and I know when I come up on one of you guys I'm going to get beat! So if you see me blow by take the hint and show me that v8! Also I heard the f-sport badge adds 2hp
