Red face Daytime Running Lights Question

Hey guys, so I have been browsing around looking for opinions on what DRL's i should put on my F, but I have a few questions. 1, for clarification, is our DRL H11, or 9005/9006 on a 2008 ISF? My second question is if I just want to change the color of the DRL to a more modern look, do I have to get the v-led with the module and all that crap so it doesnt flicker, or can I just replace the bulb to have a whiter/bluer look to them. I understand they will run at 50% power unless I install that module, but is anyone here running just different colored bulbs? If so, how do they look??? Thanks for any help guys, I appreciate it.

1. our DRL is 9005.
2. if u run any color bulbs it will still be yellow but less yellow then the stock. If you get LED they will flicker unless u get the module.

You have to ask yourself this question before anything. Do you really use your high beams? If you do then get halogen bulbs, if u don't then get LED with or without the module that is up to u. If you get LED ur high beam is useless. It is mainly for looks.

/\ all true

You will loose your highbeams if you go LED. No halogen bulb will make a noticable difference because of the low wattage given to them as drl's

Or you could take it to the dealer and have them turn your DRL off.

I run the Luminics halogen krypton series super blue 9005 bulb for my DRL's. They appear to be a white color due to them not being fully powered being DRL's, when you switch your brights on though they have a blue hue to them. I will take a pic of them tonight for you and post it so you can see them as a reference.

I was going to change my DRls but I didn't really want any lights on at all and my dealer turned them off for free while I had it in for service.

DRL's show up really white like I said. No trace of that god awful yellow color. Let me know if anyone wants to see more pics.

For craps and giggles I took a pic of just the parking/city Vled blue LED's I got. Had no idea they were going to be such an intense/illegal blue lol. So I ordered up the 6K white ones to replace these and they should be here tomorrow.

I replaced the bulb and added the free heavy duty wiring harness that is plug and play to the stock harness. I ordered mine from the site below and got the bulbs very fast!

It's true that the LEDs will render the high beams useless. That's just the design of LEDs where the lights doesn't travel very far. It is good to light up the reflector headlight housing, but not good for brightness and visibility.

I went with GP Thunder 9005 5800k super white halogens. I use them for DRLs and also for high beams. It's hard to say when you need high beams. But when you are trying to warn someone on the road or if you suddenly drive in a dark back lane or poorly lit stretch of road, you can take advantage of the high beams.

If the car was wired in a way where the HIDs would be the highbeams, then I would probably go with LEDs for the DRLs only.

By the way, I am very happy with my 9005 GP Thunders. Awesome colour and they are pretty reliable.

It is highly recommended to buy aftermarket 9005 bulbs that are rated at 65w. That is the same specs as the OEM bulb. If you purchase bulbs that run at 90w, 100w, 120w, etc, there is a high chance of melting your OEM connector due to overheating and running a higher powered bulb. And if the connector is melted, you would have to buy a new one from Lexus parts.

i thought stock was 55w? either way the pictures look good. no awful yellow. i guess if u want to keep ur highbeams and get rid of the yellow then get the luminics. if u don't really use ur highbeams get led. simple. I have the same blue for my parking lights. lol
