If I bought a new car the oil would be changed at 1000, 2500 miles with reg oil, then at 5,000 with synthetic. Break-in is the most important with oil changes, I don't care what anyone believes. Why would someone sacrifice engine wear to save a few bucks.. The only way I'd feel safe going over recommended oil change intervals was if I had an oil analysis with the oil and filter I was using.
