I need to know if the Lexus scan tool and OBDII are able to pull up the history of how a car was driven. Since the dealer has accused me of abusing my car resulting in internal engine problems (compressed, out of round valve springs) and the car has never been abused, I need data to back up my claim.
When I had a 2002 Porsche with OBDII the ECU stored for life: number of redline hits (type 1) number of over revs (type 2) and total milliseconds at and over redline. This could never be erased and persisted forever. I had my 911 scanned before buying it (pre-owned) to make sure the car had not been abused.
I need to know if the Lexus/Toyota ECU stores the same information as it is the strongest evidence I will have to back up my statement that the car has not been abused. The dealer refuses to scan it or tell me if it is even tracked by the ECU. Knowing that the Toyota ECU are some of the most advanced in the industry make me suspect the info is all there.
Thanks!
Andy
