Default Lowered IS-F issues.

First wanted to introduce myself, got a 2010 IS-F with around 8K miles about a month ago in the San Francisco Bay area and for the most part I love the car, some pics I took the day I got it attached.

However, a couple of weeks back, I figured out the last owner (bought it from a BMW dealership who knew very little about the car) lowered the car with BC racing coilovers which Fig helped me figure out it was at a common spring setting (dampening was a little soft so I dailed it up a little). But now seeing a couple of hopefully minor issues and wanted to see what you guys thought.

First is that the front fender linings seem to have been rubbing and now have small holes in them (pic attached). Is this an issue, will spray enter my engine bay?

Second is I drove over some really bad road work and it actually cracked the front underbody panel, pic also attached. Both sides have the split cracks.

So what do you guys think? Are these mostly cosmetic issues? Should I get the car raised? Thanks!

The fender liners are fine. Its very common with everyone that is lowered that they will rub a little. I trimmed mine in the little areas it rubbed.

Looks fine; just keep in mind that with a lowered car you have to be careful with potholes, ramps, and going over speed bumps. It would really suck if you left anything behind or broke something,

You're coilovers are adjustable. They can be raised to any setting you desire. Regards, Shot

Just don't slam your F, raise it up if you think it is too low for your transit.

I figured if the ride height is below 645mm then you are too low for DD.

I believe you're fine.

I know your fine if you cracked the underbody panel. I did it. Not a big problem though.

It looks fine to me. It's just normal wear and tear, I believe, although with the lowering of the car, it can easily cause more rubbing and potential parts to come in contact with the ground. If you're really concerned about it, I'd say raise it slightly, but if not, leave it as is and just be more careful on the road.

If you are near Daly City, you would've probably seen me this Thanksgiving, as I was set to go up north with my gf's family, but work and some family health issues are preventing that from happening. I've seen a few F's, just not that many who are on CL. Anyway, enjoy your F!

Umm, wouldn't say its slammed, but it was lowered when I got it. Can't say I dislike the look of it lowered, but the occasional scraping sounds is kind of unnerving. As for the ride height, it is 5.5" upfront or 140mm, which I don't think is too low, did you mean 64.5mm since 645mm is like 25"?

Anyways, thanks for the piece of mind, just got to be more careful in the future, SF streets/hills are some of the worst I've driven.

Default lowered isf

As mentioned above, with any lowered car, you have to watch the potholes, speed bumps and changes in pavement height. My ISF is stock height, but my daily commuter car, a Yaris, is on the deck. The worst is on the freeway where the pavement changes from asphalt to concrete. Even a difference of one or two inches can smack the hell out of the car! There's a place on the 134 in North Hollywood where I hit it at about 65 mph and it put a great big bubble in one of my front tires. Just be alert and you will be OK. By the way, your car looks gorgeous!

Oh the ride height I mentioned 645mm is measured from ground to the top fender opening.

Looks pretty normal to me for a lowered IS-F... The Front bumper scraps are the most FUN!!!

My underbody panels are full of battle scares.

Congrats on your purchase.. It looks GREAT
