Tire pressure for drag racing?
Gna hit the strip today and would welcome some tips! whats the optimal tire pressure? lets hope it hits low 12s. mods are I/H/E

Considering track prep varies you might just want to try and play with pressures and see what works best for you. I'd personally start around 32psi and go down from there. At those temps and your power level it's going to be a hit or miss with traction on street tires.
I say, if the sun is out heating the pavement and track prep is descent, you shouldn't have a problem. Good luck!

Start high like James says and go from there. Experience & feel will dictate if you need to lower the pressure.
Low 12's isnt as easy as it sounds, but good luck!

Drag Run Results.
Decided to drag the car to find out if the headers actually added performance due to low dyno results as discussed earlier. Results are Below. Wanted to shave off another .2/.3 but started raining towards the end. Next time hopefully.

Starting at 32psi is going to do more bad than good IMO. Proper PSI is really tricky with street tires because you really dont want to get them too hot...
I would start somewhere between 22-26psi (cold) and move your way down from there. You will have to keep in mind that after your first run, the pressure should go up a few PSI.
Remember not to get the tires too slick. If you are able to hot lap, only do an extremely short burnout so that you can get any excess rubber off the tires.

One IS-F owner (cayman) under quite possibly the best drag racing conditions breaks a high 11 and its automatically a gimmie for the rest of us now...?
Mid-low 12's with intake, headers and exhaust. Grip, altitude and weather all play a huge role.
