It's an open cone intake and you end up losing the dual-stage.

I went back and tried to decode all the intake talk to figure out which was the best one....Not sure if what I concluded was correct or not but I ended up buying the Takeda. I will try and install it myself today...hopefully I dont screw anything up in the process...

Post install question: the final step of the takeda instructions said to re-connect the battery. However, I don't think the instructions beforehand said anything about disconnecting the batter nor did I disconnect it. Is there s need for me to now disconnect and reconnect the battery for perhaps an ecu reset or some such?
Thanks

^^^^No, the battery disconnect is just a precaution in case you make an electrical mistake. I have installed three intake systems, A JoeZ which I replaced with the Takeda and an Injen that a installed on a friend's F. I'm ashamed to say that I did not disconnect the battery on any of the installs.

I'd think you'd want to disconnect the battery so the ECU re-learns with the different intake on..

It's going to relearn the moment you start it anyway. Resetting just puts you on the default maps, and on occasion it will speed up the recalibration process. Nothing serious happens until the engine is in closed loop, so your coolant has to be at least 140F.

I just had a chance to start the install. I noticed that the new half of the intake housing does not have connector pieces to clip onto the stock housing. Has anyone else noticed this? The housing seems loose without being fully connected.

As I recall there are just two top clips. I seem to remember tabs on the bottom to hold it in place. If you didn't get top clips contact your reseller. It needs to fit tightly against the stock half of the air shroud that is left when you pull the stock air box off.

there seems to be alot of heatsoaks in the takeda and injen intakes
would there be any way to get rid of the heat?
would treating the piping with heatwrap reduce the amount of heatsoak?
