IS_F known issues?
I'm looking at picking up a new car in probably either summer or fall of next year and have narrowed my choices down to a select few. I've read a decent amount about the IS-F and was wondering if y'all could give me some insight into ownership costs. Are there any known issues or anything to look out for other than the normal maintenance issues? I know it would probably require more maintenance than an economy care because that's the nature of the game, but is there anything requiring them to be in for an excessive amount of time? From what I've read it seems most of the complaints are more geared towards ride than anything else. I know the opinions here may be a little biased but I appreciate any info you can give.

Also I saw the stickied thread for IS-F reviews and am currently reading through it but also wanted to see what people who have put quite a few miles on their car have to say about reliability

In 2 months, I'll have had this car for 4 years and almost 40K miles. So far, between rotation of winter and summer tires I haven't changed any tires yet. Front brake pads once (400 bucks) because I killed the pads tracking them. 100$ oil change every 10,000 miles (I used to do it every 5K, but after reading Lobux's oil analysis, I do it every 10K now). 2 front wiper blades and NOTHING else. Actually, my car wash cost is higher than my maintenance costs.

It would only cost more than an economy car because the 5.0 liter engine requires about 10 quarts of oil and the summer tires wear out quicker than all-seasons. The brakes could be as durable as a normal car if you're easy on them. That's it.

i have my car for three years with 30k miles so far. The car has consumed two sets of rear tires and a set of front tires. A new set of wiper blade was installed recently. I change my own oil every 6 months, so there is very little cost for maintainence. I am still on original brakes. So far, the tires have been the most expensive maintainence items. I have no mechanical problems, but there is a squeak from the dash which i have learned to put up with.
overall, i am very happy with the car. The pre MY11 cars have stiff ride. OK for the driver, but a bit rough for passengers.

I bought mine recently and everytime I get in the car I feel like the BAWS! No issues with the car.. High maintenance yes similar to many others that compete with it. Overall I have had no complaints just changed the tires recently to all season otherwise going strong

Bought mine at 46k and now I’m at 61k in less than a year. Brakes had been changed 6mo before I bought it-rotors and pads. Sunroof track & cable were damaged by the previous owner. I didn’t know when I bought it. Lexus & the dealership left me out in the cold, with not even a compromise. Staring at a 3k bill to fix, I ordered a sunroof assembly from the salvage yard (07' IS350) and took a Saturday to install it myself.
I’ve gone through 3 oil changes, and that’s it as far as maintenance. Added intake, headers and Exhaust.
I thought the water pump might be leaking from stains I saw, so I’ve been monitoring the overflow tank for new visible leaks, but its remained constant. Water pumps do tend to leak on the early F's
I'll be draining and replacing the rear-end fluid soon and doing the rest of the 60k inspections myself except for the internal engine inspections.

Thanks for the replies I'll be looking at 08s and 09s most likely. Guess I need to get out and test drive some since reliability seems to be pretty good.

My 2008 has 35k miles with no unscheduled maintenance or quirks of any kind. I've purchased one set of tires, and replaced the brake pads recently because I drive the car like a mad man. No car is perfect, but compared to the competition the ISF is bulletproof.

Check wear on brakes and tires as they are expensive to replace.
