Because it's so different! A lot of racers over here (at least in Southern California) like the RHD cars because they are ultra rare.
It's like if you were to have a left hand drive car over there I would imagine.
Interesting, you would generally try and avoid having a LHD over here as it increases your insurance costs but I can see the desire for rarity purposes!

Its kind of strange that your insurance would be more over there for a LHD. A buddy of mine had a RHD and the insurance was the same as a LHD would be. Maybe they don't think you guys can adjust to being on the "right" side of the car!

Quite possibly, our roads are much narrower and given the car density overtaking onto the other side of the road is quite often needed. Driving a LHD means it's much harder to see if it's clear so probably increases likelyhood of an accident.
That said insurance over here is very hi anyway and I think they just look for any reason to make it higher! Young drivers are hammered, e.g. A 17 year old driving just a 1 litre banger would prob still pay over £1k insurance!

With your roads how they are I guess that would make a bit more sense. We don't really have that problem here. I wonder how exspensive it would be to import a UK car over here. I bet it would be pricy!
