it honestly depends on how bad the snow in your area is and how frequently your area is plowed. You cannot Drive an AWD car in like 6 inchs of snow unplowed unless you got a truck or something. i honestly think that AWD helps with handling as everyone else is saying but if your area dosent snow heavy and is frequestly plowed, then go with the ISF, its rare to see it being sold for the same amount as a 350 awd with only 5000 miles on it. I think its an excellent deal you should not pass up.

In the snow and ice, RWD with snow tires will have far better stopping power than AWD with all-seasons. Just wanted to let the OP know that RWD isnt all that bad as long as you have snow tires.

1 day snowfall: 67 inches (5.6 ft.) at Echo Summit, Jan 4, 1982 (2nd in US)
Single storm snowfall: 186.6 inches (15.6 ft.) at Donner Summit, 1982 (2nd in US)
1 month snowfall: 390 inches (32.5 ft.) at Tamarack, Jan. 1991 (US record)
Total winter snowfall: 884 inches (73.7 ft.) Tamarack, 1906-07
Greatest snow depth: 451 inches (37.6 ft.) at Tamarack, Mar. 11, 1911 (US record)
Highest average March snow depth: 108 inches (9 ft.) at Echo Summit"
But no one lives in the Sierras! Most Californians dont really know about winter driving...

Damn that video is mad!!

Luckily I didn't have the same choice to make as over here it was a IS250 or IS-F both RWD. If the 350 AWD had been available.....hmm tricky choice.

Have to say I had an SLK 350 before the IS-F and the IS-F is much much better at getting it's power down with better tuning of the traction control and the LSD. With a set of Blizzak winter tyres on the car should be more than useable depending on the height of the snow, which is going to be just as much a factor with the 350.

If the snow is deep you'll need an SUV or 4x4 either way.

It would be a very difficult decision but think I would probably go with the IS-F and spend a couple of $k more on a beater for the winter.

Having watched that video it's a stark reminder in very bad conditions it doesn't matter what you drive, AWD, RWD, FWD, winter tyres, summer tyres, great big damn 4x4 - NONE of them are going to stop other people crashing in to you! If you need to drive in conditions like that I would say your best bet is to buy the Snow Plough in the video

Am I missing the point here? How the hell can you get a 2011 ISF for the same price as a 2012 IS350? These cars are 20k in difference, you are telling me the guy wants to sell you a 2011 F for 20k off just cause he drove it 5k miles? BUY IT THEN SELL IT FOR A PROFIT Then go get your 350.

I don't know how people would daily drive their F in snowy conditions, even with snow tires. Reason being the salt all over the road and ice chips. This is what causes dings and scratches all over the car. That's also what corrodes the underbody of the car, unless you wash it weekly. If it snows, my F hibernates. I usually wait until everything melts and the salt on the roads is minimal before driving the F. Until then I use my daily driver.

Get the 2011 ISF, and shell out a few grand on a FWD or AWD beater and drive THAT in the snow, my opinion. I drove my 1998 FWD Integra out of a 4-6" pile of snow without shoveling, and that's with all-season tires. I've been lucky with all-seasons so far.

Hi Jean!

Im from Quebec also and I drive my ISF all year round. last winter, I even drove it during snow storms but I'd have to tell ya its not easy. Luckily I got stuck a couple of times but there's always been people around me to help me push my car This year, I take taxi or just stay home during snowstorms.

I'd say if maintenance and gas budget is not a problem, go for the F all the way!

Maintenance is not that bad (160$ oil change and tires are the most expensive). Other than that, I had nothing to do/repair.

Gas is expensive though (particularly in Quebec) I gas once every 4 days for an average of 18L/100km :S

But for fun 355days/year (I count the 10 days of snowstorm), incredible power and a nice headturner, I would buy the F!

Well I am the proud owner of a 2011white IS-F...

the dealer included 4 Blizzack LM25 on the deal and I will be buting a set of ISS forged wheel for the summer.

as per NoweISF, I'll cab or work from home if there is too much snow or snow storm.

This way I can keep my name!!!
