Kindly remember that whatever you choose, just because the price you pay for the car is cheap, does not mean the parts will be in the future.

For 90k no thank you. ISF all the way. The only porsche I would buy would be a 911 turbo.

The Panamera fits if you really want a Porsche. It is a great heritage brand. I chose the IS F because I knew it would be reliable, backed by a pretty solid factory warranty. The interiors of both are quite plush for their respected class. Go with what you truly want. Yes, I have noticed many who have that Porsche envy when a Panamera passes by, but that feeling dissipates quickly. But for some reason, i have seen and heard more chatter about the F at stop lights, parking lots, and gas stations, and it makes for a nice feeling to get those compliments from a brand that had originally been distinct for its luxurious nature.

Where I live Panamera use to be rare site like IS-F but I now see one every other day can't say that about IS-F. Thats one of thing that makes ownership of this car fun, is how people still ask question about F when they see at gas station, stop lights or parking lots and comment how they like how car looks and sound etc.

I really dislike the look of the Panamera but every review I've read has been gushingly positive. But I don't see the Pana being "more of a car" than the F regardless of price. It's just a different kind of car.

However, if you "settle" for an ISF I know you won't be disappointed. And you'll save more money than just the sticker price in the long run.

Thanks for the feedback. Pretty much what I expected, some apprehension about the Pana and a higher price (though I am not sure how much higher the cost of ownership would be given that the certified models have a 70k mile warranty).

I never thought I would be comparing these two cars as they really are in two separate classes, but the Pana drove on par with the F, and that really surprised me.

And I still think the car is damn sexy.

My Uncle is an auto adjuster and he told me the other day when he went to evaluate a collison he inspected a Panamera that was hit from behind. It was a tapper and there was a lot of damage. The estimate has reached the 20K mark and will go higher due to the fact that ALL the electronics are located in the trunk area. The shop will have to go thru the whole electronic system to make sure it all functions before they hand the car back over to the customer.

High end cars = High end repair

That alone would steer me away from buying this car no matter how good it drives, unless your surrounded by Ferraris and Lambos that don't mind geting into a "tapper" with you.

Other than that some little sh it box worth 1K hits your 100K+ car, yeah that's reasonable

I think the only evidence needed to talk you out of a Panamera is the fact that you're posting on a message board asking people to do it.

The way I look at it, luxury performance sedans like the Panamera and the IS-F are unreasonable because of the implicit compromise between luxury and performance. There is a very heavy premium that we have to pay to enjoy these two in combination, and this problem is severely compounded as the vehicle price goes up and up. The IS-F is already a very expensive car and the Panamera represents even worse value. It's easy to see the problem when we compare luxury performance sedans to other cars that have either similar luxury/amenities but less performance, or similar performance but less luxury. In both cases, those cars show a remarkable drop in price.

Since a luxury performance car ostensibly will serve as a DD, my approach is to find the cheapest possible car that satisfies the minimum luxury and the minimum performance I require in a DD. For me, the IS-F serves that very well so I'll never consider a Panamera. Presented with the choice between two luxury performance sedans, if both satisfied my minimum luxury and minimum performance desires, I'd be far more inclined to choose the cheaper one and put the difference towards a real sports car.

Also BMW GT is compared to Aztec, both models were total flops.
