I bought the non-motorized version of this. It served its purpose well. Plate was visible. Bumper wasn't marred with holes. My car is lowered and with my house having a steep driveway, the metal bracket (but not the front bumper) was scraping considerably. So I lost an additional half inch of ground clearance, and hearing every scraping sound was hard to deal with, even though it wasn't directly hurting the car. I still angle my car when entering/exiting, but that bracket was getting beat up way too much. I'm having it mounted to the bottom grille soon.

Some of the is250/350 guys have this, to avoid the scraping on the ground they cut a tiny section out of the lower air dam grill and mounted it behind that. Yes their is some cutting involved but the final product looks better and won't scrape

Very, very interesting. Hmmm...Austin cops are notorious for getting people with no plates. This could be fun. As you said Zapa...challenge ACCEPTED.
