He's asking about the DRLs not his headlights

I wish there was a way to change the DRL to something non yellow and keep good high beam light output.

I noticed when I engage the high beams (even though those my DRL lights are unplugged) the headlights actually changed. Try it. I might be hallucinating, but my headlights did. I use it all the time, and people get the point and they turn their brights off.

For 2012 is this a non-issue due to the new DRLs?

Dont turn it off by dealer or unplugged the fuses. Just get a pair of LED 5 or 6k out put. That would fixed the hideous oem yellow .

Yes. We're complaining about old style DRLs which is a yellowish halogen. The newer headlights have the LED strip instead.

If you read the OP, he's asking about his DRLs, not headlights. I don't think an HID kit would work at the lower wattage that the inner bulbs see when they are running in DRLs. HIDs will run when high beams are on though.

lol, that's bi-xenon. It just flips up a shield in the HID projectors to allow full light output. The shield is what creates the sharp break-off line when you're in low beams.

That's because there is a shade inside the Bi-Xenon HID projector that raises up, when you engage the HIGH BEAM function...
It works in conjuction with the Halogen DRL/High Beam Bulb..

Unless you have unplugged it.. Then you still get a semi working high beam...

I had my dealership turn the DRL's OFF while I was signing my contract.. LoL

And heck, I even put Yellow Bulbs inside mine.. So I have "Mixed" yellow high beams when needed...

Please excuse dark photo..

I have to disagree with the Luminics "haters" lol. I doing think they are crap, at least from what I have owned. I have had zero issues so far, the high beam function of them works really well and they do what they are supposed to. I put luminics headlight bulbs in the wife's H3 and she has had no issues either.

Also, I am pretty sure using your high beams becomes pretty much useless with an LED correct?

I currently live in Texas where there are deer all over and I use my high beams quite often, that's really the only reason I chose a bulb vs LED.

Below is a pic I posted of how they look at night. All white with no hint of blue. When you get more power to them (high beam function) they have a blue tint instead of just white.
