Default Rear Pads

Hi Guys,

I am dropping the F off to have the calipers professionally painted and when they reassemble them, I want to have them swap out the original rear pads with a better pad with less dust. I have Hawk pads for the front and like them quite a bit but unless I am incorrect, they do not make ones for the rear.

What are your suggestions?

I've got the Project Mu pads and am loving them. Much less dust, no squeal, and bite really well.

I followed SargeISF's recommendation and got the Wearever Ceramic pads from Advanced Auto. They are very quiet with very little dust, and one heck of a bargain at just $52 front & $46 rear. It turns out they are actually made by Wagner (Moog).

Do you know which Project Mu pad you have?

No problem, I heard good reports on these. I will need to decide very soon as the brakes will be started in the next two days. How are they on dust compared to stock as you mentioned better but would you say certainly a big difference?

Definitely, a major difference. The stock pads would have the wheels coated in dust the same day the wheels were washed, with these pads, I can go 1-2 weeks before visually seeing any dust build up.

What do you mean "reassemble them?" Brembo very specifically says do not EVER remove the pistons from the calipers. It's very clear in the Factory Service Manual you should never, ever remove them. Unless of course, you're prepared to buy new calipers.

Thanks for the info and I feel it may have been a bad description on my part as they will be removed from the car. I will double check with the shop on this but I feel the error is on my part as this is a high end shop that works on these on a regular basis. For reference, the shop is RACperformance.com . There shop is very impressive along with the cars they work as well as sell.

Thanks again for mentioning this as I will check with them.
