Am I making a big deal here?

if it makes you feel any better... I got a rock chip last week on my way to work. When I came out to my car afterwork, the rock chip turned into a nice 20" crack across my (driver) view. Now I'm in the process of locating a shop that'll work with my insurance and get me OEM glass. But as everyone has mentioned ***** happens when you drive a car and getting a windshield replaced is just one of those things that'll crack or chip on you when you least expect it.

Thanks again for the feedback. I think the windshield won't necessarily be a dealbraker, but the dashboard rattle and the misalligned rear bumper might just do it. I'm really going to have to think hard here.

Hey guys, a few of you mentioned to check the positioning of the rain sensor and that it's different from the ISx50 position. Could you let me know where it is supposed to be positioned. Also, is there any way to tell is ISF spec glass was used or just your regular IS glass. Thanks.

Unfortunately, I have a lot of experience here with my previously owned GS. The windshield was not properly installed at the factory, so I had noises that drove me crazy.
Lexus rapidly agreed to reinstall the shield. The key was to have it expertly installed and allow 24 hours for it to set.
My suggestion is that you insist on an OEM replacement shield and allow it to remain unmoved for 24 hours. You should be good to go at that point. I would be quite surprised if the clips in your dashboard are defective and giving you rattling sounds.

Would hold off
If those things bug you now....it's only going to get worse. You should wait. The rattle and misaligned bumper would annoy me, too. I was looking at a few 2008 and 2009 in the so cal area and most didn't have bumper, windshield, or rattle noise issue. Good luck in your search.

I had a chip in my IS350 windsheild turn into a long crack. Fought with my insurance company to replace with OEM Lexus glass but they refused.. and i honestly did not want to pay the $1000 difference between the two. The guy who did my glass does all the work for the Lexus dealer, and did a great job. He used Pilkington glass, which is actually the OEM brand used on the RX's. So far so good... have had zero issues with it, no noise etc.
