Pitch sensation in MY11 was almost certainly exacerbated by leaking rear shocks which compromised rebound damping. I am accustomed to lighter, more agile, roll-stiff FWD platforms, so for my taste the turn-in transient response was tepid and with blown rear shocks it just made sense to replace with a coilover kit and stiffer springs. To each his own, and to his own, each.

Glad you are having fun in the driver's seat...that photo at full lateral load is epic. I have yet to track MY11 but am looking forward to it if/when the life swirl settles down a bit.

Is that a cat-back system? And will it pass smog like that? I'm in California.

Catback, and No will not pass Smog without a hook-up.

I would argue that wouldn't help inside wheel lift resulting in loss of traction as spring stiffness has no effect on the magnitude of load transfer. The load on the inside rear would still reduce to zero given the same lateral acceleration, though with less deflection. Interestingly, I've measured the natural frequencies of the front and rear axles to be about 2.5 Hz. According to literature, right about where it should be for a non-aero race car. That, and the fact that the tires don't have enough grip to make the suspension bottom out, is my base case for not going with stiffer suspension. As ChpEng pointed out, to each their own, but great discussions anyway.

looking good!
Do you have adjustable front upper control arms? What's the camber set at?

Thanks! It has completely stock suspension arms all round so that's natural camber from being lowered on coilovers. Last alignment the front camber was -2.42 in front and -1.44 in the rear.

That's a visual performance setting. No way it's at a camber curve optimum with OEM suspension parts on stock pickup points.

New wheel setup arrived for the IS-F today. I ordered these from Koya Wheels in Australia, and after a 3-week manufacturing time they turned up in just two days on DHL Express.

These are the Koya SF07, finished in Ultra Charcoal. 19x10.5" all round with custom offsets of +37 front and +45 rear. I did a lot of measuring before deciding on the exact offsets as there's a fine line between too much poke and hitting the suspension arms. Luckily it all worked out and I have about 2.5mm of clearance between the front aluminium suspension arm. The rears were purposely inset a tiny bit to allow the 285 tyre without rubbing on the rolled rear fenders.

They have a nice concave to them and due to being flow formed they are surprisingly lightweight at only 10.4kg (22.9lbs) for the fronts and 9.9kg (21.8lbs) for the rears. Looking forward to getting tires on and fitting them to the car.

Going 285/30/19 in the rear and 275/30/19 in the front. It's quite low on BC coilovers so I'm hoping for a happy ending 🤞

Will do another post when they're all done 📸
