Painting calipers - has to be high-heat paint?
#16
To counter my own point (lol), I've seen quite a few STI's & EVO's at the track and their OEM gold/red Brembo's have discolored and dulled significantly. I realize your brakes may never see the heat that a tracked car's brakes see, but something to consider....

[QUOTE=IceIridium;7241116]Yeah I looked into G2 but the stuff comes in a jar for you to brush on. Great for traditional calipers with rough textured surfaces but not on our smooth surface brembos. Ours need to be sprayed.
Before discount G2 you should have done more research yes it comes in jar and yes you paint it on it will also self level and is epoxy base paint which is hardest most durable paint you can use, it resist, brake cleaner, brake dust, gas, just about any solvent you can think of oh I've been using this product for 7 yrs on three of my cars here are some pics
When ever I have done my caliper I first cleaned using brake cleaner sanded done slightly used VHT high heat base coat followed by G2 paint applied high heat vinyl stickers finished off with VHT high heat clear that is good up to 900 degrees and have never had problem with chipping, peeling or fading, you can use VHT caliper paint system it follows all of these steps except you would use VHT caliper paint instead of G2 all there caliper paints are rated to 900 degrees.
Not bad for paint out of jar
Here are some of my pics from my ISF and IS350 I also hit painted hub with high heat paint hubs to help keep the hubs from rusting.
Cleaned and scuffed cleared
Cleaned and scuffed cleared
paninted calipers fyi this blue color darked once completely cured.
hit with clear top coat
