Oil changing question, how many miles?
Hey guys, I was looking for some insight to a question I have. I recently purchased my IS F with 2,000 miles on it and when speaking to the dealer about oil changes they said since it is using synthetic oil that I only need to replace the oil every 10,000. That seemed very high to me so I called them again when I reached 4,000 miles to make sure I had heard him right, and he said yes every 10,000 miles. My previous car was an Infiniti G35 and I only used Mobil 1 and I got 196,000 perfect miles out of that car/engine. I changed the oil about every 5,000 miles on the G35. What do you guys recommend I use for oil on my 2011 IS F?? I am expecting to have the car for about 6 years and put close to 200,000 miles on it. How often should I be changing the oil and other fluids, Ijust reached 6,000 miles and 10,000 just seems so far away?? Thanks in advance.

I change at 8K mile intervals using 5w30 Mobil 1 Synth. There's some good threads floating around where members have posted up their oil diagnostic sheets. If I remember correctly, some are using intervals as high as 12k miles.

It's in the maintenance menu somewhere. Just keep clicking icons and you'll find it. Also . . . you can adjust it to be something other than 3,000 if I remember correctly.

With the car turned OFF, hold down the odometer reset stick on the instrument panel.
On to the next step....
WITHOUT your foot on the brake, press the engine start button twice while keep holding down the odometer reset stick. Now....
Your odometer reading will show some dashes that begin to go away one at a time. When the go away you are finished and your next scheduled maintenance has been reset in your IS computer and will alert you again at that time. Hope this helps!

yea i also d 5,000 mile intervals. I have also done this and feel comfortable using this interval, besides the oil change on the F is so cheap compared to other cars in this class, cough M3.. that the 5000 interval is still cheaper than a single m3 oil change.
