Some nice vettes in here but at the end of the day they're still GM junk IMO! Fast? yes handles great? yes but its still got that GM plastic feel to it and squeaks and rattles after a few months.

I killed a c5 corvette stock with my stock is-f from a dig on two separate runs yesterday. The 0-60 of the c6 is 4.1 and the is-f is 4.2. YouTube has videos of the is-f winning.

Fanboys are Fanboys. Doesn't matter make or model of car. Or the race, creed or age of the driver. You'll find them on every forum and all over the street.

On a side note, i have both the F and a Z06. The F is far superior in quality, but the Vette is more exiting on the track and far more capable. Subjective i know, but that's my 2 cents.

The Z06 is the best track car with the 50/50 weight ratio

As an owner of both, a C6 Z06 and an IS F, I have to say that these two cars are not comparable or even it the same time zone... Both cars are great, however for two separate and distinct reasons....... Cheers to all!!!

Found this on a Corvette Forum...watch out for MINI's

I wasn't ever going to say anything about this to anyone, but the more I thought about it the funnier it got. I've moved from NV to Eureka, CA and on one of my trips over here, between Redding and Eureka, on the 299, a wonderfully twisty, narrow road that just demands to be tested by probably anyone in a sports car. I'm no superstar driver, by any stretch of the immagination, but I kinda consider myself to be no slouch, either.*
The road, this day, had very light traffic. I felt I was pushing the vette, and my ability, to the max, and really having a ball. After a few miles of this uninhibited canyon crashing, I saw something coming very rapidly in my rearview mirrors. I though, HOLLY CRAP, I've been busted! No, I hadn't been busted, it was a couple in a Mini Cooper trying to run over my ***. I kept on the throttle thinking, "this is just plain assed wrong!" I was in over my head and I knew it! I refused to back off though, and on a switchback, that scared the bejesus out of me, that little Mini passed me and left me in the dust! I couldn't believe it! It looked totally stock and it was like it was on tracks or something. I was left shaking my head in disbelief, astonishment and respect.*
Who'd a thunk it!!
Don't mess with those little buggers!

Never underestimate the driver mod ^ Something I learned (and was humbled by) at the track...

Well, I do understand the reference to the perceived lack of stability at times. Unfortunately, the steamroller tires tend to chase the cut grooves in the pavement.

The the key competitors to the 2012 ZR1 are the Lamborghini Gallardo, Audi R8, Porsche 911 GT2 and Ferrari 599. However, if I were going to select one for the purpose of discussion, it would be the Audi R8 with the V8. That would be a fun road challenge.

Engine Specifications (Arrangement Mid mounted, longitudinal):

Bore 3.33 in. [84.5 mm]

Stroke 3.65 in. [92.8 mm]

Type 4.2 liter DOHC V8, four valves per cylinder, with FSI® direct injection, dry sump lubrication system and aluminum cylinder block, crank case and cylinder heads

Displacement 4.2 liter [254 cu. in., 4163 cc]

Fuel Requirement Premium unleaded

Compression Ratio 12.5:1

Horsepower 430 hp @ 7900 RPM

Torque 316 lb-ft. @ 4500 RPM

Performance
0-60 MPH 4.4 sec.

Top Speed 187 MPH

There is always another car superior to the other. With both the same cars it will depend on the driver. There was a civic hatch on the track passing me on the turn my stock NSX. lol.

Lol, I believe it. It's humbling to be passed by a $20k car with an awesome driver while in a $50k+ sports car. I know from experience But by the same token it's fun passing cars that are faster "on paper".

It's so true that it's all relative....when I was an instructor at Willow Springs for the new riders school, guys would show up at the track on their 1000cc liter bike with a huge chip on their shoulder having thought they were the fastest thing on the street/canyons...

It's funny how QUICKLY they were humbled/ego crushed when a 15 yr old female on a 125cc bike would pass them like they were standing still (turning lap times 10+ secs faster.)

Track experience makes all of the difference.

I have a friend who is 37 with a C6 Z06 and knows how to drive it. Good guy. I have much respect for Vettes.

That said, they are a little more tricky to drive fast on very curvy roads (even in a straight line at times as the vid shows).
The LS3 6.2L V8 does a 4 sec. 0-60...I say it's too close to call with the GS. The quarter mile is 12.3 seconds @ 117 mph.

The GS is a GREAT car for the bucks...but it's not an F and, again, it is probably a bad comparison (for either car).

This looks close to me...

And this does not...

As stated, the driver often matters more than the car.

Again driving a fast car does not transform you into a fast driver. Fanbois think it magically does

A Fast Driver drives closer to the limits of the car whether fast or slow.
